About the Teacher

Sr. Audrey Frances' childhood and youth were spent on several different continents.  Her father is a retired Foreign Service Officer for the U.S. State Department, and she was born in New York, but within 6 months, her family moved to Hong Kong.  Every 2-3 years, her family moved to another country, so from Hong Kong, they soon moved to Cameroon, then to the US, to Alexandria, VA.  Next, they relocated to Benin, a small country in West Africa, and then to Paris, France, and finally back to Alexandria for Sister's final 2 years of high school.  In every French-speaking country to which they moved, then-Audrey and her two younger sisters attended local French-speaking schools, so that they grew up bilingual.

The greatest joy of Sister's life, though, came during her freshman year at Mary Washington College in Virginia, when, through the vibrant campus ministry there, she came to know the Lord and His love, and fully embraced the gift of her Catholic faith.  She also met the Oblate Sisters of St. Francis de Sales through the campus ministry.  After graduating from Mary Washington, she entered their Novitiate in Childs, MD.  She made her Final Profession in 2013.

During her years of formation, Sister had the opportunity to work in campus ministry while working on earning her Masters in Education at DeSales University in PA.  She has since been able to put the lessons learned there to good use, with 14 years of teaching experience as of the 2024-25 school year.

Sr. Audrey Frances is a lifelong learner, and one of her passions from childhood has been the exploration of languages, especially of the Spanish language.  Sister has an advanced level of Spanish oral communication, and has often served as a translator for her Spanish-speaking Sisters from around the world, assisting with their communication with both French and English-speaking Sisters.

Besides teaching Middle School Spanish, Sister also coordinates technology integration for IHM.  In this role, she supports teachers as they strive to bring the latest innovations in this exciting area to the classroom.  Sister is a Google Certified Educator, and loves to investigate and implement new technology so as to engage and support students.
