Virtus/Safe Environment Training is a training designed to educate parish and school volunteers, staff, and parents about identifying, preventing, and reporting abuse of children and vulnerable adults, particularly sexual abuse. All volunteers are required to complete this training in order to ensure that all of our programs are maintaining a safe environment for all those they serve.
If you have not been trained before:
Create a new account.
Select “Denver (archdiocese)” as your archdiocese/organization. Select Immaculate Heart of Mary as your volunteer location.
From your home page, click “register for upcoming session” to sign up for an in-person class. You can attend any training in the Archdiocese of Denver unless there are restrictions listed in the notes.
Virtus training must be renewed every 5 years.
If you have completed safe environment training in the past:
Contact your Virtus administrator to activate your account and provide your username.
From your dashboard, you can see whether any items are pending or expired.
If your training is expired, you can complete an online refresher module, or you can register for an in-person class.
The code of conduct is a document outlining archdiocesan policies for staff and volunteers.
It must be re-signed whenever an update is made.
Please read and sign digitally via your Virtus account. You should be auto-prompted to sign upon login. Otherwise, you should be able to access it via the required documents button on your dashboard.
Do not turn in a hard copy.
As required by the Archdiocese of Denver, Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Parish obtains background checks for all of our volunteers.
Please complete the form to the left so that we can set up the request.
Monitor your inbox (and spam folder) for an email from Fastrax.
Click on the secure link, fill out the required information, and submit it to run the background check.
You will have the option to send yourself a copy of the results.
Please print the document to the left and return the completed copy to your volunteer supervisor, or scan and email a copy to christineh@ihmco.org. We also have copies available at the parish if you are unable to print.
