Hey, I’m Deepak. I’ve always had a strong interest in mathematics. I completed my bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and Physics, followed by a master’s degree in Applied Mathematics.
While I enjoyed my training in mathematics, the lockdown period drew me toward economics. I became increasingly interested in the social and economic challenges faced by developing countries and wanted to engage with these questions more deeply. After finishing my master’s degree, I made the decision to shift disciplines and pursue a PhD in Economics.
During my PhD, my research has focused on renewable energy and the financing challenges of the energy transition. My aim is to bring together rigorous mathematical and econometric tools with real-world economic questions, particularly those relevant to developing economies.
I believe my analytical background helps me engage critically with complex economic models and data-driven research. At the same time, I remain deeply connected to poetry, which offers a different way of understanding uncertainty, change, and human experience.
With this combination of quantitative training and creative engagement, I hope to contribute meaningfully to research in energy economics. The path ahead is demanding, but I approach it with curiosity, discipline, and a readiness to learn.
