The activities from the Forest Science Youth Challenge (FSYC) are designed mainly to strengthen foundational knowledge, critical thinking, and creative expression among undergraduate students through friendly academic competition and social engagements. The program enables students to explore how forest systems function as engines of green growth.
The Forestry Fundamentals Quiz Contest is a competitive academic event designed to assess students’ knowledge of basic forestry concepts and allied sciences. It challenges participants through a two-phase format that tests both theoretical understanding and analytical thinking across disciplines such as general forestry, botany, earth science, mathematics, and economics. This contest aims to strengthen foundational knowledge while fostering critical thinking, accuracy, and confidence among future forestry advocates.
Social Hour is a dedicated time for participants to connect and build meaningful relationships with fellow forestry students. During this session, the participants will take part in engaging and enjoyable activities designed not only to strengthen camaraderie but also to encourage collaboration and shared learning. Through these interactions, Social Hour serves as a welcoming space where students can exchange ideas, experiences, and knowledge while fostering a stronger sense of community within the forestry field.
The Nature Tour of PFYS 2026 aims to transform lessons into real-life learning by allowing youth to observe sustainable forest management, utilization, and conservation practices. Through guided visits to forest sites and environmental facilities, participants will gain a deeper understanding of forest ecosystems and the vital role of forests in climate action, food security, and sustainable development.
The AFFS National Congress 2026, to be held under the Philippine Forestry Youth Summit (PFYS) 2026, marks a historic step in re-establishing a unified national platform for forestry students in the Philippines. As the second national assembly since the last Congress in 1999, it will gather forestry student organizations from across the country to strengthen unity, leadership, and collaboration.
The Congress will serve as a national consultation and planning forum, an electoral assembly for the new set of AFFS national officers, and a strategic space for dialogue, networking, and expanding the national network of forestry student organizations.
The Filipino Forestry Students Symposium offers different programs that explore pathways such as forest value chains, bioeconomy, biodiversity and nutrition, agroforestry, watershed management, ecosystem services, and nature-based solutions through parallel conference sessions, accompanied by booths from forestry-related institutions and organizations.
Anchored on the PFYS 2026 theme “YABONG,” the symposium highlights the dimensions of forestry with emphasis on how sustainable forest management supports livelihoods, food systems, climate resilience, and long-term development. Through plenary and parallel sessions, the summit explores the key pathways such as forest value chains, bioeconomy, biodiversity and food nutrition, agroforestry, healthy watersheds, payment for ecosystem services, and nature-based solutions. This is complemented by exhibits from forestry-related institutions and organizations.
