It is your responsibility to ensure that you have met the necessary Indian visa requirements for citizens of your country. We recommend applying for a visa ASAP.
Indian immigration requires that all non-Indian citizens obtain a visa not only prior to entering India but also prior to booking your flight to India.
If you already hold a valid visa to India, please check the validity of your visa and ensure that it will be valid throughout the entire training.
1. Visa Type
We recommend applying for a X-Misc Visa for India. Note that X-Misc Visas will require a visa support letter from both the host organization (J-PAL South Asia at IFMR) as well as from your sending organization.
2. Letters of Support and Visa Application
If you have not done so, please fill out the Visa Form immediately so the organizing team can generate Letters of Support.
Please visit the Government of India website for more details. The following are commonly required supplemental materials:
passport
visa support letter from J-PAL South Asia
visa support letter from your own organisation
passport size photos
the visa fee in the appropriate form (check, money order, etc.)
printed copy of the official visa application form filled out through the Government of India website
(photocopy of) proof of address that matches the address on your visa application
an in-country itinerary
and more - refer to the official websites shared above for a complete list of requirements for citizens of your country
3. Visa Expenses
All fees associated with obtaining your visa should be charged to your project. Only Lecturers and TA's should charge anything to the training.
If you have questions/concerns regarding the visa application process, email Bhakti Bhowmik (bhakti.bhowmik@ifmr.ac.in).
