IES Princesa Galiana is a public secondary education center located in the Santa Bárbara neighborhood of Toledo. The ages of the students are between 12 and 18 years old, with 13 groups of ESO and from the academic year 2017-2018, a group of high school of performing arts, music and dance (BAEMD), one of humanities and social sciences and another science. The IES also has a TEA classroom. We are 45 teachers and 460 students of 23 nationalities (18% of the total). 5% of our students are of Romanian origin. Our center project "Galiana Presenta", which has obtained several national awards, is now in its tenth edition. Through Arts, Music, Theater and Technologies, the center has improved academic results and the coexistence and integration of the students. It has been possible to involve 100% of the teaching staff in interdisciplinary tasks and project work, in seminars and work groups. The ED and the teachers of the music area (3) and English (5) will participate in this ERASMUS + project. Eight of these teachers have a final destination at the center and the continuity of the project is assured. These teachers have teaching experience and experience in the activities of the Galiana Presenta project and have spent years as students and teachers abroad. All of them are already participating in our first ERASMUS + project on theater. With the BAEMD our IES is a recipient of boys and girls who combine their high school studies with music, mainly at the Jacinto Guerrero Conservatory in Toledo. We have gone from 3 or 4 students from the conservatory to having more than 20 students between 1st of ESO and 2nd of BACH during this year. Some (9) carry out a special program: in the IES they only take the core subjects of the baccalaureate, concentrated in three days, thus they have a significant reduction in hours (17 hours) to dedicate to classes and study at the conservatory. It is an approximation to an integrated center model that in Spain is very rare and in some European countries it is common. Galiana wants to respond to this new profile of students through various initiatives:
- Events: concerts, recording sessions, workshops with professionals (jazz, flamenco)
- Formation of an orchestra, with a weekly hour of rehearsal during school hours . Group rehearsal at recess.
- Integration in the theatrical productions (6 years of musical theater at the center)
- Permanent collaboration and coordination with the Conservatory.
Uniqueness but little experience: we need to establish contact with educational centers and systems in Europe that have been developing integrated music programs for years. Institutions that will collaborate with this European project: Toledo City Council, Jacinto Guerrero Conservatory, Ministry of Education, Rojas Theater, FYME, assigned CEIPs, Castillo de San Servando, Momentum Toledo, Diego Ortiz Music School, IES Alfonso X.
