According to the UN, the Sustainable Development Goals are "urgent call for action by all countries - developed and developing - in a global partnership. They recognize that ending poverty and other deprivations must go hand-in-hand with strategies that improve health and education, reduce inequality, and spur economic growth – all while tackling climate change and working to preserve our oceans and forests."

Clean water and sanitation: the padul peatland wetland is an aquatic environment. As we have studied, it has a large amount of fauna that inhabits the area thanks to the presence of water, and to conserve this biodiversity it is necessary to take serious measures to avoid possible eutrophication and end up generating an ecosystem with anoxic areas where there is no life. To this end, it is very important to regulate waste dumping and water extraction in order to maintain a good water table in the lagoon with clean water.
As to having clean water in order for it to be consumable, the sewage has negative consequences for the environment, but it contributes to having accesible clean water for the population. In this aspect, we´re trying to reach goal number 6 by purifying water.
Sustainable cities and communities: the wetland belongs to the municipality of "Padul" in the province of Granada. Therefore, everything that happens in the village has an impact on the lagoon and vice versa. If the wetland is kept in good condition, the community living in nearby areas will benefit from what it brings to their lives: better air quality, environment with high biodiversity, natural attraction that can promote sustainable tourism and its consequent job creation in the area... Similarly, if Padul is a sustainable town, there will be no damage to the lagoon such as dumping, bad practices in the Mammoth route (which runs around the lagoon), potentially acoustically, atmospherically and physically polluting activities...
Responsible production and consumption: the production of farms and fields close to the peatland has an impact on the peatland due to the possible accidental input of nutrients from chemical fertilisers, which would have a negative effect. Therefore, responsible production with organic fertilisers would be something to be taken into account in the area. Likewise, responsible consumption in the lagoon itself and in the entire locality would be very important for its durability: the excessive extraction of water, the felling of vegetation that could be considered riparian and the hunting and fishing of endemic species are practices that are prohibited to guarantee this objective.
Climate action: the fact that the peat bog has been included in the Sierra Nevada Natural Park considerably limits the actions that can be carried out in the peat bog, limiting the pollution they cause and guaranteeing good conditions for humans, animals and plants that live in the area. Also, the fact that there are visitor routes promotes sustainable development by making more of the population aware of the need to maintain ecosystems such as the one in Padul because of their ecological importance.
Life of terrestrial ecosystems: as it is a more or less protected natural area, all activities related to hunting are prohibited. This allows the conservation of endemic species that we have dealt with, such as the tridactyl skink, which is already very difficult to find, and other species that are in danger of extinction, such as the spanish pond turtle. In addition, due to its climatic conditions, the peat bog serves as a passage for migratory birds, and this provides another reason to safeguard its climatic conditions and ecological niches.
