Vocabulary

These are the topics we are going to work on:

1. Family life and personal relationships: relationships, responsibilities, roles.

2. Free time: hobbies, spare time, sport.

3. Travels, tourism, and description of the visited places.

4. Youth: teen culture, education, work, music and fashion.

5. Cinema, radio and television: programmes, plots, reviews.

6. Information and Communication Tecnologies.

7. Health and environment: Ecology.

8. Current ethical and social issues.

Why is it important to study vocabulary?

When students are beginners in English, the most important aspects are understanding basic information and making themselves understood. After studying the language for many years, you should be able to deal with more complex and specific topics, though.

We don't know what kind of texts you are going to read in your PAU exam, so the more vocabulary you know, the better comprehension you will have. In exercise 3 you must match words and expressions from the text to their definition. 

In addition, lexical wealth and accuracy can improve the quality of your writing in exercise 6 significantly.
