The idea behind this group started in February 2024, during the celebration for the 12th anniversary since the foundation of ICTP - SAIFR. During the symposium Physics for South America, the possibility emerged for ICTP - SAIFR to become a global hub for basic science in the Latin American region.
Since then, we have been running regular one-day meetings - the Research Group Meetings on Quantum Technologies. They gather the São Paulo scientific community working in the related areas of quantum physics, quantum technologies, quantum information, and quantum computing.
Now we feel that it is the right time to expand our horizons and involve the ample Latin American region in our network.
This site will advertise conferences and workshops on quantum science and technology, will post news and scientific advances in the area, and will serve as a platform to announce networking opportunities and discuss common strategies.
Join our regular gathering events: the Research Group Meetings on Quantum Technologies.
These are one-day thematic events, hosted and organized by ICTP - SAIFR, where researchers have the opportunity to meet and discuss their latest research results and challenges. The light schedule, with a few talks and ample time for discussion, fosters an environment that allows for exploring the synergies between different groups and between experimental and theoretical researchers.
Behind this initiative, there is a small and active group of researchers working on various themes in quantum science and technology in the São Paulo area and Latin America. Our expertise covers experimental and theoretical research, spanning quantum information, communication, sensing, materials for quantum technologies, photonics and other platforms for quantum technologies, and more.
Research Interests: photonics, quantum optomechanics, non-linear optics
