During our last visit to the farm, the children demonstrated responsibility in interacting with animals and planting vegetables.
The visit began with asking questions about the animals on the farm such as: Do pigs have toys? Do animals like rainbows? While discussing the questions, it was clear some children had a strong interest in the pigs and other children in horses. We split into two groups one group spent time brushing the horses and cleaning up after them. The other group did the same with the pigs.
All the children spent time in the garden to replant the seedlings they had planted as seeds last time. Moving the seedlings from the pots to the larger garden allows for the roots to have more growing space.
KTR children went on their third visit to the farm in April. During their visit, they visited a new bee hotel, collected eggs from the chickens and planted various vegetable seeds. During each of these experiences, the children engaged in dialogues about how Living things are connected and enrich life on Earth. For example, how the bees are vital to helping the trees in the orchard grow fruits. We are looking forward to our next visit to see if our seeds have sprouted into plants.
