Summer Vacation

by Alma B-N.

My family recently went on a trip to the East Coast to visit our family. Even though it was different from our other trips because of COVID-19, we had an amazing time.

We spent a lot of time with my aunt, uncle, cousins, and grandparents for the first two weeks. My cousins and I always perform something for the rest of the family. This time we did a couple of different sections. One was a swordfight- that was really fun!

Afterwards we went to a place in the Adirondacks with a lake that was great to swim in. It was really clear and there were a lot of salamanders living in it. We stayed there for four days.

We drove to Connecticut and drove home from New York. We were going to make it home in one day (the drive is 14 hours), but we would have had to drive through a bad hailstorm, so we stopped at a hotel in Illinois and got home on the 12th of July instead of the 11th.

The trip was really exciting, but it’s great to be home. I love Iowa City and the Northside.
