Key Legal Policies & Protocols

Meet with your building-level administrators to learn more about safety plans, including building-based emergency procedures, guest speakers & visitors, and other critical policies.

Communication is a key foundation for our policies and protocols to function. Your responsibilities include regular communication with your students, families, colleagues, and administrators.

Emergency Response Protocols

The emergency response protocol card should be visible in each learning space. Check with your building administrator for building-specific protocols and to receive a card if one is not already present.

New York State’s Dignity for All Students Act (The Dignity Act) seeks to provide the State’s public elementary and secondary school students with a safe and supportive environment free from discrimination, intimidation, taunting, harassment, and bullying on school property, a school bus and/or at a school function.

Amanda Verba is our ICSD Dignity Act Coordinator. Each building administrator is also the DASA Coordinator.

Always communicate with your building leaders & families regarding student behavior. Emergency Interventions are a last resort after multi-tiered, culturally responsive supports have been in place.

If you have an accident on the job or are hurt by a child, fill out this accident report and turn it into your building administrator as soon as you are able.

After-Hours Building Access

While you are welcome to enter the building at any time, swiping into the building after hours (after 6 p.m. on weekdays or anytime on the weekend) activates a silent alarm that must be disabled. Therefore, we ask that you follow these steps:

*Your building principal will share the unique 4-digit building code with you.

If you have any further questions, please contact Heather Williams at (607) 882-4217 or heather.williams@icsd.k12.ny.us.

Use this guidance and frequent communication with your building administrators to arrange quality field learning experiences for your students.
