IB students entering ICS during Grade 11 (DP1) or between Grade 11 and 12 (DP1 / DP2):
Changing schools in the middle of the IB program can be problematic, as schools do not always offer the same IB Diploma subjects or schools cover the content in IB courses at different times. Considering this reality the IBO is well aware that students sometimes need to transfer from school to school. All parties involved will do our best to help a student through the transition.
During the admissions process the ICS Director of Admissions will work with the applying family and the ICS IBDPC in order to determine what is possible for the student at ICS. ICS will make reasonable accommodations to meet the needs of students who are transferring, but this does not always mean completing the full Diploma will be possible at ICS.
If it is determined that it is possible for a student to successfully transfer to ICS. ICS will then share the document IBDP Mid-program Transfer Form | TO ICS with the transfer student's current school. Based on the information provided by the current school, ICS will develop an individualized Learning Contract for the transfer student. This Learning Contract will identify for every IB component the work necessary for the transfer student to become fully aligned with the rest of the IB cohort at ICS. This contract also seeks to balance the demands of ongoing course work with a need to work through the additional work in a timely and sustainable manner.
To complete the transfer process, the IB Coordinators at the current school and ICS will share information and documentation. As a matter of authenticity, the IBO expects that all assessment documentation to be handled by the IBDP Coordinators, not the student.
