Foreign participants should plan to arrive at Guarulhos (GRU, Guarulhos/ São Paulo city) or Viracopos (VCP, Campinas city) Airports.
São Paulo Bus/Coach Station is called Terminal Tietê.
Option 1 (depending on the availability): Three vans are currently scheduled (and we are working to secure one or two additional vehicles). The confirmed departures from Guarulhos Airport (GRU) are:
Saturday, July 11 – 10:00 a.m.
Sunday, July 12 – 10:00 a.m.
Sunday, July 12 – 3:00 p.m.
When booking your flights, we kindly ask you to plan your arrival as close as possible to these times, as we may not be able to provide transfers outside the scheduled departures.
The transfer service is primarily intended for international participants, given the length and fatigue of their journeys. Whenever feasible, we will also do our best to accommodate Brazilian participants.
Option 2: Direct bus from GRU Airport to São Carlos. Take a direct bus operated by Viação Cometa from Guarulhos (Aeroporto) to São Carlos (Rodoviaria). Some schedules are sold as "with connection", but in practice the trip is direct, and passengers remain on the same bus for the entire journey. There is only one daily departure at 8:30 AM (São Paulo time zone). The journey takes about 6 to 6.5 hours, and tickets typically cost between R$120 and R$150. The route usually includes stops at Terminal Rodoviário do Tietê (in São Paulo) and Terminal Rodoviário de Campinas, but no transfer is required. This is the most convenient option, as it avoids changing buses and handling luggage during the trip.
Option 3: Take the Airport Bus Service to Terminal Tietê. There is a bus every 50 minutes and the cost is about R$ 50. The journey will take between 25 minutes and 2 hours (depending on the traffic). Once at Tietê, there are two companies to São Carlos: Empresa Cruz/Piracicabana or Viação Cometa. There are many buses per day, the price is around R$70 and it takes about 3h30min.
Option 4: Take a bus Lirabus from GRU to Campinas Bus Station ("Rodoviária de Campinas" in Portuguese). You can buy the ticket in the Lirabus booth at Terminal 2. At Campinas Bus Station take a bus to São Carlos with either Empresa Cruz/Piracicabana or Viação Cometa. This option might be faster if you get a good combination of buses. However, if you don't, it might take much longer since there are less buses to São Carlos from Campinas than from Terminal Tietê.
Take a bus Lirabus from Viracopos to Campinas Bus Station. From Campinas Bus Station take a bus to São Carlos with either Empresa Cruz/Piracicabana or Viação Cometa.
