The Make Yourself Aware site is managed by the Illinois College Chesley Health and Wellness Center (CHWC) team. Our goal is to inform more students about health and wellbeing. This site is a way for students to gain knowledge and understanding of common struggles that college students may face during their time in college. Each page is dedicated to a different area and provides education on symptoms, coping skills and helpful tips. This website is not a replacement for mental or physical health services.
Services are located in Lincoln Hall in the Chesley Health and Wellness Center. To book an appointment, please email counseling@ic.edu for counseling appointments, health@ic.edu for medical appointments or call (217) 245-3038.
Clinical services are provided by licensed professionals. The cost of tuition covers services provided on site. Records are confidential, and we adhere to state and federal laws and professional ethics in maintaining confidentiality.

Scope of Care
In order to serve our student body, our mental health counseling services are goal-directed and generally short-term and solution-focused. Though we do not have formal session limits, students typically average 6-8 sessions a semester. If you believe that the counseling we provide does not meet your needs, we can provide referrals to community providers.
We define our general scope of care regarding individual counseling with one of our staff therapists as treating students with mild-to-moderate or severe distress that will likely reduce rapidly with clinical interventions.
Possible indicators that severe distress could reduce rapidly with clinical interventions include:
Severe distress that is acute/short-term/recent.
Severe distress with 1-2 specific symptoms.
Severe distress that appears in response to adverse situations.
Severe distress that is known to reduce rapidly with interventions that CHWC can provide
When presenting concerns are beyond CHWC’s scope of care, we will provide referrals to community providers who can offer the appropriate level of treatment. Tuition costs do not cover community-based services, in most cases.
Because we live in an increasingly more digital world, and because we want every student to have access to mental health services, the Counseling Center has partnered with Uwill. Uwill is an online therapy platform where you can experience real time counseling from a network of licensed mental health professionals. Counseling is one-on-one, and you can connect via video, phone, chat, or text. Uwill offers a diverse selection of mental health providers, and you can be matched with a counselor based on issue, gender, language, or ethnicity. You can also choose a time that fits you, as Uwill schedules appointments during non-traditional business hours. Uwill is available for free for all Illinois College students! Login to your Single-Sign On page and click the Uwill button at the bottom of the page, or click here to get started today.
