What I learned in TAG school is that you have a choice whether to be a good person or bad person, or in another example, a person who thinks on the positive side of life and a person who thinks on the negative side. TAG school will support you in the future by helping you become a better student and solve problems in your life. For example, TAG school will teach you to deal with bullies and have a better lifestyle. TAG doesn’t teach, they change your kids. Therefore, TAG school is good for kids to join and it’ll make your kids become better people.

Everyone is constantly learning and as a teacher assistant at TAG school I was able to learn along with the students. With interactive activities the students and teacher assistants enjoyed spending time with each other during learning experiences. For example: we learned about good and bad karma. The students and I especially enjoy the arts and crafts. The flower pots we made this year for Mother’s Day turned out to be extremely beautiful and fun to make with different colors and creativity.
Having little field trips at the temple brought a lot of excitement to the students as well as the teacher assistants. As a teacher assistant, it is important to realize that we are not there to only teach but to inspire the students to reach for a higher mindset. In class, we have icebreakers which I believe are very important as we contain many thoughts and feelings inside. The students and teacher assistants are able to have a break as well. After a period of learning the students are given the opportunity to have a snack which lets them recharge. As a TA, I realize that the school is and will always continue to provide and assist the students no matter what.

The underlying principles behind the TAG Program is to instill core values and help nourish these values. The program focuses on the three good deeds: thinking, doing, and speaking good. This program aims to help students cultivate these values effortlessly in their daily lives, making them a part of their behavior and character. It seeks to empower students to become compassionate, responsible, and respectful individuals so that they can positively impact the world around them.
How rewarding can that be as the instructor leading this effort!
Being a TAG instructor brings me immense joy and satisfaction. It is truly rewarding to see my students creatively applying what they've learned in class to their real-life situations. Witnessing their excitement and eagerness to come to class on Sundays is invigorating, even when I may feel overwhelmed at times with my workload. When students express their enthusiasm and look forward to their TAG classes, it's a testament to the impact we have made on them. It shows that we have given them hope and something to look forward to in life. Seeing their thirst for knowledge and connection further motivates me.
As a TAG instructor, I feel a sense of accomplishment knowing that I can influence, change, and make a positive impact on an individual's life. It's humbling to play a part in their growth and see them transform for the better. Knowing that I have contributed to their journey and made a positive impact on their lives is truly rewarding. Being a TAG instructor is a source of fulfillment and inspiration.

TAG School is an exciting volunteer group!
As TAG Founder, Venerable Master Hsing Yun emphasized the importance of education, we started Dharma School for Kids (now TAG School ) in 2015. Over the years, we have grown so much; from one small class of less than 20 staff and students, to four robust classes with nearly 100 staff and students.
Our staff are here to help all students become better people through practicing the Three Acts of Goodness.
Just like a gardener, we plant seeds of goodness and nurture them with the water of wisdom. We excitedly watch the student seedlings grow and develop over time. Staff and students also improve by supporting each other. When students mature and return as volunteers we are just so proud! This is such rewarding volunteer work!

As a Senior Advisor, “What can I do to maximize my effort in helping the next generation and benefit human beings?”
I found the perfect answer in “TAG School”.

TAG school was created with great efforts to provide children of all ages an open and comfortable space to learn how to act with compassion, grow with kindness and think with empathy. All the activities, lessons and events the TAG program puts together really shows how much the staff values the students’ enjoyment and active participation in the program. TAG School is a place, and another home, where students can grow their wholesome seed as a child into a beautiful lotus flower as they enter their teen years.

TAG School has provided opportunities for kids with and without a Buddhist background to gain insight on Chinese culture as well as learn about morality in a day and age where morality is lacking. As a student, I had plenty of fun while learning more about my own culture. As a volunteer, I learned about responsibilities and the difficulties of teaching. TAG School is an experience that will follow me for the rest of my life as a moral compass, an exploration of my culture, and the spirit of volunteering and altruism.

Do good deed, think good thought, speak good words. That are the 3 phrases that I discovered when I went to Hsilai temple to checkout sunday school for my daughter and son . And I thought, that is exactly what I want my kids to learn at sunday school. It is a simple three act of goodness (TAG) but if it is put in practice, it will very beneficial when kids are growing up.
On top of that, the teachers and volunteers at TAG school smile all the time and very friendly towards the kids. I remember there is a saying that one smile a day keep the doctor away. It is not easy to find people who give smile selflessly with heart and I would like both my son and daughter to live and breath on that principle

This is my first year at TAG school and I was amazed by the change of my kids and ourselves. In US people encourage kids to be unique and build distinguished personalities sometimes this philosophy causing people focus on themselves. For instance my kids always say things begin with “I want… or I like….” but after one semester study at TAG I realize they gradually changing their mindset by asking other people’s option first instead of put themselves at the first place.
While attending the parent class I was honored to be one of the volunteers at TAG school. I was able to exchange parenting experiences with other families as well as obtained new knowledge from Mrs. Lorraine. At the same time I involved as volunteer with many meaningful events such as vegetarian cooking class, venerable master HsingYun memorial, teacher and staff appreciation day and graduation ceremony. There were various fun activities here at TAG that allow students learn and adapt the concept of Humanistic Buddhism with fun and efficiently. As parent I feel very grateful and comfortable to send my children to TAG at early age that all the knowledge and experience will surely benefit their whole life. I’m confident and proud to be part of the TAG community.

The TAG School offers a wonderful Parents’ Program that focuses on the adults, not the kids. After participating in the parenting workshops, I realize that children are well adjusted when they have good emotional bonds to their parents and families. TAG School’s holistic approach in teaching children and parents how to be healthy, happy, and kind to others and ourselves helps create strong and healthy families with both good physical and emotional health. We would like to offer our sincere gratitude and appreciation to TAG School and Venerable Huicheng for their dedication and commitment to helping children and families.

I enjoy going to TAG School. TAG School teaches me the 3 Acts of Goodness and the 4 Kinds of Giving. We learn to do good deeds, speak good words, think good thoughts, and to give others joy, hope, confidence, and convenience. All of the things I learn will help me become a good person, because when we are good and giving to others, we are also being good and giving to ourselves. I am thankful to TAG teachers, volunteers, and Shi Fu Huicheng. I hope I can become a compassionate good and giving person just like Venerable Master Hsing Yun.

My family has cherished our time as participants in the TAG School program for the past couple of years. I'm immensely appreciative for the chance to learn and evolve together with my son. The TAG Program not only lays the groundwork for his character and moral growth but also illuminates the crucial role of parental leadership through personal example. Recognizing that my actions resonate more powerfully than my words, I've grown more conscientious. I'm enthusiastic about my ongoing journey to enhance my role as both a father and husband.
