Mrs. Michelle Daughenbaugh is in her 18th year of teaching, and 4th year at Spanish Fort High School. Her previous teaching experiences have been Bayside Academy, Chickasaw High School, and Baker High School. While at Baker, the Synphonic Band consistently received Superior ratings at the annual Alabama Bandmasters Assoication Music Performance Assessment. She also assisted with the award winning marching band, jazz bands, wind ensemble, and concert band. She also served as MCPSS Band Director Association Vice President and helped organize rhe All-County Honor Bands for middle and high school. 

She received her Bachelors of Science in Music Education in 2007 from Troy University, and Master of Music Education from Auburn University in 2011. She is currently pursuing an Educational Specialist degree in Music Education from Auburn University and is scheduled to graduate in May 2027.

She holds memberships with the Alabama Bandmasters Association (ABA), Alabama Music Educators Association (AMEA), National Association of Music Education (NAfME), and Lifetime membership in Tau Beta Sigma National Honorary Band Fraternity.

Michelle is happily married to her husband, Mark of 11 years and they have 7 year old triplets: James, Cece, and David. In her spare time, she enjoys performing with

The Baldwin Pops Community Band, and Bay Area Running Club.

Mr. Garrett Booth, native of Citronelle, Alabama is in his first year teaching. He received his Bachelors of Instrumental Music Education from The University of South Alabama and recently graduated from the University of Tennesse-Knoxville with a Master's in Music Composition. In addition to working with the band, he will also be teaching AP Music Theory.

When he is not teaching, he enoys writing music, going to live music events, and spending time with friends and family. 

SFHS Colorguard Instructor

Mrs. Dismukes grew up in Tuscaloosa, AL and moved to Fairhope, AL where she graduated from Fairhope High School. Marching four years in the band and their Winterguard program, she then began holding private lessons for new students trying out for various colorguards before becoming an instructor at Spanish Fort High School.

She has been co-instructor of the Spanish Fort Toro Colorguard for 6 years. During these 6 years, she has helped in the rebuilding phase of the program while also helping the guard double in size. She has been an instructor of the Spanish Fort Toro Winterguard within these 6 years as well. Alongside her co-instructor, the Spanish Fort Winterguard has had award winning shows while also promoting from Scholastic Regional AA to Scholastic Regional A during their 2025 season within the Gulf Coast Guard & Percussion Circuit.

While she's not teaching, she enjoys traveling, going to the beach, reading, and spending time with her family, friends, and 2 dogs.

​Colin is a Mobile, AL based musician who specializes in hammered dulcimer, steel pans, and percussion. Known for his unique style of playing, Colin mixes elements from a variety of genres in his music. These include classical, jazz, Irish folk, African, Brazilian, Cuban, Caribbean, and various others.

​He currently serves as the Percussion Instructor for the Marching Toro Band Drumline and also gives private lessons in percussion and hammered dulcimer.

​He actively participates in various hammered dulcimer contests and festivals throughout the country and holds the 2018 National Hammered Dulcimer Champion. He has also recorded two full length albums on hammered dulcimer.

SFMS Band Director

Natalie Hughes grew up in Miami, Florida, and after moving to Mobile in high school, graduated from Davidson High School.

She received her bachelors degrees in music education and trumpet performance from Florida State University. She then went on to receive her Masters degree in trumpet performance from The Boston Conservatory.

Ms. Hughes began her teaching career in 2006, at Alba Middle School in Bayou la Batre, Alabama, where she was chosen as Teacher of the Year in 2013. After teaching at Alba until 2017, she then moved to Semmes Middle School in Semmes, Alabama. Since 2013, Ms. Hughes has served on the faculty of the University of Mobile as Instructor of Trumpet.

Along with her teaching duties, Ms. Hughes is also an active performer throughout the Gulf Coast region, including performances with the Mobile Symphony as well as maintaining an active private trumpet studio.

Ms. Hughes is a member of the Alabama Bandmasters Association (ABA), Alabama Music Educators Association (AMEA), National Association for Music Educators (NAfME), and the International Trumpet Guild (ITG).

6th Grade Beginner Band Director

Ashley Tyler Cummings was appointed to launch the sixth grade band programs at Rockwell Elementary School, Spanish Fort Elementary School, and Stonebridge Elementary School in 2022. She previously served as Band Director at Central Baldwin Middle School in the hub of Baldwin County from 2007 to 2022. While at CBMS, the Band program consistently grew in numbers and quality each year, receiving superior ratings at district, state, and regional music events. While in Baldwin County, Mrs. Cummings also taught the first band programs at Loxley Elementary School and Rosinton School and aided in local high school band programs including guard and dance choreogaphy and design. Prior to coming to Baldwin County, she served as the Assistant Band Director at Homewood Middle School and Homewood High School, where her band performed for the Alabama Music Educators Association State Conference. In addition to her duties as assistant band director, she also served as the Homewood High School Auxiliary Coordinator and Choreographer and conducted the show choir and jazz bands.

Originally from Lakeland, Florida, Mrs. Cummings grew up in Brewton, Alabama and graduated from T. R. Miller High School. She completed the Bachelor of Music Education degree from Auburn University. While in Auburn, Mrs. Cummings was a member of the Auburn University Symphonic Band, Marching Band, Flute Ensemble, and also participated in the Auburn Community Orchestra. In addition, Mrs. Cummings performed with the Auburn University Campus Band where she served as undergraduate conductor. Mrs. Cummings worked on the Auburn University band staff as an undergraduate assistant and served as flute section leader for two years. Mrs. Cummings served as the Alabama Collegiate Secretary for the National Association for Music Education for two years as well as President of the Auburn University NAfME chapter. She is also a charter member for the Kappa Phi chapter of Sigma Alpha Iota International Music Fraternity. She completed her Master of Music Education degree from the University of Southern Mississippi and has continued with post-graduate and doctoral work there as well.

In addition to her duties as band director, Mrs. Cummings has performed with the Baldwin Pops Band. She has served as a presenter and clinician for the Alabama Music Educators Association as well as for NAfME’s Biennial Music Educators National Conference. She continues to serve as an active clinician, adjudicator, and teacher throughout the southeast region.

Mrs. Cummings’ professional affiliations include the National Association for Music Education (NAfME), National Band Association, Alabama Bandmasters Association, Tau Beta Sigma and Sigma Alpha Iota International Music Fraternity.
