Our Group's History
In the early 90's, several members of the Oxford Area Group of Advanced Motorists (OAGAM) were not able to resist their passion and established a small motorcycle side within the car only members group until then. Over the years, the bike side grew steadily on members and in July 2019 the two wheeled section became a separate group within the IAM RoadSmart network after operating for many years as a combined organisation.

Who are we?
We’re a friendly bunch of over 100 members of all ages and affiliated to IAM RoadSmart. Run by very enthusiastic volunteers for the benefit of others with a similar interest in Advanced Riding and Social Events. All members enjoy the opportunity to socialise with like-minded locals at regular group rides and meetings. Some members have not yet passed their Advanced Test and benefit from coaching sessions with our highly motivated, very skilled and supportive Observer team. Our thorough training programme for our volunteers and the qualification to the IAM RoadSmart's strict IMI Standard consistently delivers a high test pass rate and many smiling faces!

IAM and our group Full Membership is open to anyone who has passed the Advanced Rider test or who qualifies by exemption (e.g. holding a recognised qualification).

If you are already a full member of the IAM and want to get more involved with your local group then you can quickly and easily join us. Local membership opens up a world of opportunities that enable you to meet like-minded people, share ideas and even further develop your skills with us.
