Successfully passing the course
You are assessed upon whether you are perceived to have the knowledge/ skill/ competence required to meet the course goals.
How much time do I have?
It is your responsibility both to keep time and to make use of it to demonstrate how you have reached the course goal assessed. Time limit and word limit will depend on the course so please follow guidelines set by your Program Manager or Industry Leader.
The oral assessment - is that like an interview?
No, you will be in charge and take the lead throughout the assessment.
Be thorough
It is important that you provide and contextualise evidence to all parts of the course goal and not only some parts of it. The assessors are not allowed to make any assumptions, hence you must be thorough and make sure to cover everything.
Responsibility
It is your responsibility to ensure any links or files you submit to Google Drive or Classter are valid, so that we can assess your work. If we cannot view your submission, you will be marked Absent.
Tech
It is your responsibility to make sure that you have all the tech that you need and that it is working for you. If the assessment format is an oral presentation in a remote setting, it’s your responsibility to ensure a good internet connection, a good sound quality and a functioning camera. Camera ‘on’ is a requirement to get assessed.
Use of AI
At Hyper Island, we aim for you to develop your AI-literacy to rise to the challenge of recent technological breakthroughs through reflecting on generative AI tools in an effective and appropriate way. All students are expected to discuss legal and ethical factors affecting the industry. To ensure academic rigour and integrity, it is recommended that you reflect on your use of generative AI tools during assessment, if applicable. Strategies to explore, for example, could be to show how AI is used to schedule your time, digest articles and even optimise your learning. Rather than using AI as a “tool to fool”, you are expected to articulate: how have you used AI as a personal coach throughout your learning journey? Best practice for reflecting on the use of AI in assessments could be including a footnote in a written submission or addressing how you utilised AI when doing an oral presentation.
Can I refer to learnings that I gained from outside of Hyper Island or from other courses than the current?
Yes. However, it makes sense to mainly refer to learnings from the project/projects you’ve been engaged in during the current course, but you might also have additional experiences that have helped you reach a knowledge, skill or competence. That is great - connect the dots! Just a friendly reminder: make it easy for the assessor to follow your story. They can only assess what they see and hear - make it easy for them to understand you.
NDA
By assessing for Hyper Island, all assessors are under the same confidentiality agreement as you are. Therefore you don't have to worry about referring to classified deliveries/projects.
Clarity
Do your best to present in a clear and well structured manner. If your presentation or text is perceived as unclear, it may affect the ability of the assessor to understand you. It is not a curriculum requirement, but it is an industry expectation to hold a certain level of professionalism. Again - make it easy for the assessor to see what you know.
