Could Music Make School Better for Students?
By Axel Reed (7th Grade)
What if students were always in a good mood and teachers were able to teach without interrupting students? With students listening to music, all of that is possible. Depression rates in school are at an all-time high because students do not really care about what they are learning about. Scientists say that listening to music can boost moods by up to 84%. Teachers already have it hard trying to get kids to be interactive with lessons, but sometimes students just do not care. With listening to music that students care about, they will be in a better mood and be more interactive.
If teachers knew what type of music students liked, they could get to know them better and understand what students enjoy. If teachers knew that, they could personalize lessons and make the learning environment better. The National Center on Safe and Supportive Learning Environments states that exposure to music can improve learning and create a positive classroom atmosphere. Studies also suggest that calming music can reduce aggressive behavior and feelings of anxiety and stress. This can help students manage emotions in more positive ways and improve their ability to learn.
Many students struggle in the morning. Dr. Giuliana Conti and Amy Sloan say teachers are constantly trying to create a positive and supportive learning environment, but many students face challenges that affect their academic performance and well-being. Research shows that music listening can positively affect students’ mental, emotional, and cognitive health. It can also help students develop emotional self-regulation and social skills.
Teachers could also plan lesson activities that connect to the music students enjoy. By using images or examples related to students’ favorite artists or songs, teachers could make lessons more interesting. This could make students more excited about coming to class.
Some people might be against this idea because they think students would not be able to hear the teacher while wearing headphones. However, many headphones now have transparent modes so students can still hear what is happening around them. The well-being of students should always come first, and music can help improve mood and mental health.
This is why students should be able to listen to more music in school. Teachers and staff should consider allowing more music in classrooms and offices.

The Local Table N Tap

I just had the best dinner at The Local Table N Tap with my family. We even went back four more times! Usually when we go out to dinner we don’t really go back to the same place, but we liked it so much that we returned.
The restaurant has American pub food with a focus on grilled items, BBQ, and comfort food.
I went there after a hockey game because it was on the way home and my family needed to eat dinner.
The lighting is very calm and neutral, which makes it feel relaxing. Many people can fit in the booths or at the tables. The waiters are very friendly, check on you nicely, and don’t get annoyed with big groups.
It can take a little longer for large groups. My party had six people, and it took about five minutes when it wasn’t busy. When it’s packed it can take about 15–20 minutes.
I got the Local Burger with no tomatoes or garlic, fries, and a Sprite. The burger was cooked well done with barely any pink, and it was very tasty. The fries were crispy and not burnt.
The burger looked just like it did online and wasn’t poorly put together. It was also a good size. My dad and I ordered the same thing, and we were both full after eating.
My favorite thing we got was definitely the burger.
Overall, it was a very good experience for my family. We even went back a week later for the same food because we liked it so much. There are many varieties of food and drinks to choose from.
I would say you should be respectful to the workers because they are trying their best to give you good service.
People who would like The Local Table N Tap are people who enjoy casual dining, a lively atmosphere, watching sports, and good BBQ. It is also a good place for date nights, family dinners, or group outings.
My meal cost $21.25 for the Local Burger.
It was a very good night out. I would recommend The Local Table N Tap to anyone who likes casual dinners with family or friends.
All of our food came out quickly and tasted good every time I have been there. It was not just a one-time experience where the food was amazing one day and different the next. The food has always been good.
Coming from a picky eater, I would recommend The Local Table N Tap to my family and friends for a nice night out.
I give this restaurant 5 out of 5 stars.

Breakfast, ice cream, and drinks
I went to Rice’s Fruit Farm for an end-of-the-year soccer party. It can have a mixed feeling depending on the day or the season. It has a lot of festive decorations because they decorate for different holidays and seasons.
There are picnic tables outside and normal tables inside, and they are very nice. It is usually packed, so sometimes it can feel a little slow, but in general the service is still pretty fast. The workers usually know what they are doing, but sometimes the people who just started working there are still figuring things out.

I ordered chocolate chip ice cream, and before that I got a drink and a plain bagel with sausage, egg, and cheese. It was sooo good! It was sweet, yummy, cooked well, and delicious. The food looks neat and appetizing.
The portions are a good size, although sometimes the sandwiches can be a little big. I also tried a plain bagel with strawberry cream cheese. It was wonderful. When you walk in there are lots of good food smells, which makes it feel welcoming.
One thing they could improve is adding a little more seating inside so people can stay inside during the winter.
I would recommend this place for everyone. The price for a regular meal is around $15.
Overall, I would give Rice’s Fruit Farm a 10/10. It is a great place to go for breakfast, a quick snack, or even just a stop to grab something to eat. They have drinks, ice cream, and regular food.
It’s really good — you should go try it sometime!
More Sports in School Are a Must
By Philip Costello (7th Grade)
What if school could help students with their athletics as well as their learning? If schools had more athletic activities, students might be more engaged in their learning and happier during the day. One reason there should be more sports in school is because kids in middle school need to work on teamwork, and sports are a great way to do that. Another reason is that students could feel happier throughout the day. A final reason is that students could become more fit and healthy from having more sports.
According to the National Academy of Athletics, “Sports provide a unique environment for students to learn and appreciate the importance of teamwork. Whether playing team sports like soccer or participating in individual events like track and field, students develop communication skills, cooperation, and the ability to work harmoniously with others.” These skills can help students succeed in many areas of life.
Sports can also improve students’ moods. The National Academy of Athletics explains that physical activity releases endorphins, which are “feel-good” hormones that can help reduce stress, anxiety, and depression. Sports also give students a healthy way to manage their emotions and build resilience.
Students could also become more fit and healthy with more sports in school. The National Academy of Athletics states that regular physical activity helps reduce sedentary lifestyles and lowers the risk of obesity, heart disease, and other health problems.
Some people might say that if kids do not like sports, it would not be an enjoyable experience for them. However, schools could offer sports as a related arts option so students who do not enjoy sports would not have to take the class. Student health and well-being are very important.
It’s time for students to become healthier and more engaged at school. Talk to the principal about adding more sports opportunities.
