At Ysgol Satnes Dwynwen, we aim to inspire pupils to become ambitious and capable learners, confident individuals and responsible citizens. Learning is based on Christian values and guided by the four purposes of the Welsh curriculum. Our teaching fosters a vibrant and supportive environment, where every child can thrive — academically, emotionally, socially and culturally.
Our aim is to ignite a lifelong love of learning, foster a strong sense of purpose, and equip our pupils with the essential skills and values to shape a brighter future for themselves and the wider world.
Ysgol Santes Dwynwen opened in Easter 2019. The school has replaced four schools in Bodorgan, Dwyran, Newborough and Llangaffo. Ysgol Santes Dwynwen's School will be a Voluntary Controlled Church in Wales School for 180 pupils and will also offer 25 nursery places.
The design is linked to the historic site of Llys Rhosyr on the outskirts of Newborough village, the Royal Court of the Princes of Gwynedd used during the 13th century. The remains of the old halls of Llys Rhosyr have served as a key design element within the architectural design of the new school.
The new school will be extremely sustainable and built with SIPS Panels. They were created off-site, which meant zero waste construction and low energy consumption. This meant reduced costs and time on site.
Education portfolio holder, Councilor Meirion Jones, said, "By working in partnership with the Welsh Government, we are investing in our children's future - providing them with the best possible education and ensuring that they are taught in schools that meet with 21st century standards and expectations. These schools are fit for purpose, in the right places, and meet the needs of pupils and staff.
