At St Aidan’s Church in Wales Voluntary Aided School, we are proud to be part of the Diocese of St David’s, and our Governing Body plays a central role in guiding the school’s vision, values, and direction.
As a Voluntary Aided (VA) school, our Governing Body has particular responsibilities for maintaining the school’s distinctive Christian character, supporting high standards of teaching and learning, and ensuring that the school operates effectively and ethically.
Our Governing Body is made up of representatives from across our school and wider community:
Foundation Governors – Appointed by the Diocese of St David’s, Local Ministry Area and the local Parish of St Aidan’s to uphold and promote the Christian ethos of the school in all its work and worship.
Parent Governor – Elected by parents and carers to share the perspectives and interests of families within our school community.
Staff Governor – Elected by members of staff to contribute their professional insight and experience to the Governing Body.
Local Authority Governor – Appointed by Pembrokeshire County Council to bring a wider educational and community perspective.
Headteacher – An ex-officio member, providing professional advice and information on the day-to-day leadership and management of the school.
Clerk to the Governors – Supports the Governing Body by providing guidance, managing documentation, and ensuring compliance with statutory regulations.
The Governing Body meets regularly to discuss the strategic direction of the school, monitor progress and achievement, oversee financial management, and ensure that the Christian values of faith, care, and community remain at the heart of all that we do.
Together, the Governors, Headteacher, and staff work in partnership to make St Aidan’s CiW VA School a nurturing environment where every child can flourish academically, spiritually, and personally.
