Teaching & Learning
Teaching & Learning
Target audience: All primary and secondary teachers.
At the centre of a successful curriculum is excellent teaching and learning.
The ‘Teach for Purpose’ programme has been designed with input from strong practitioners and leaders across the region to give teachers a high level understanding of what effective teaching can achieve. As well as practical strategies and resources that enable teachers to become consistently and sustainably excellent. The programme aims to address common shortcomings in teaching that prohibit our learners from making rapid progress. As a result ‘Teach for Purpose’ is structured into five sessions:
Questioning
Effective Feedback
Challenge and Pace for all
Retrieval Practice
Independent and Collaborative Learning
The sessions are designed to support the Professional Teaching and Leadership Standards and take into consideration the Welsh Government’s National Approach to Professional Learning. The sessions align to the professional learning design model including: 1 Collaboration; 2 Reflective Practice and 3. Use of Data and Research Evidence to inform the session.

Participants will have a range of high quality and practical strategies / resources to support developments in the quality of the teaching and learning.
Participants will collaborate widely – working in groups with other practitioners across the region as a key feature of each session.

Participants will build their skills in making use of research and data to inform their classroom approaches to pedagogy.
