At Glan-Y-Mor pupils can opt for the separate sciences, three full GCSE's, GCSE biology, chemistry and physics . This option will be for those who have an aptitude for Science and who wish to study sciences at A level.
If you have an enthusiasm for science, want to study science at A level and wish to progress to study science, medical or engineering courses at university then this course will suit you. Studying the three separate sciences will make the transition to A level much easier.
Nine units will be taught over the two years. Two written papers in biology, chemistry and physics are taken at the end of the course. Each paper is a mix of short answer questions, structured questions, extended writing and data response questions with some set in a practical context. A practical assessment worth 10% of the overall mark in each science takes place in January, year 11. The practical assessment is marked externally.

Unit 2 – Creating the Built Environment 40 % of the GCSE
This is a non- examined assessment unit with a choice of two pathways: Built In this non-Designing the Built Environment - focus is on 2D and 3D drawing skills Constructing the Built Environment – focus is on the development of 2 practical skills. You are required to select just one pathway.
