Neges gan y Cyfarwyddwr Addysg, Sgiliau a Phobl Ifanc
Message from the Director Of Education, Skills and Young People
Gobeithio y cawsoch amser i orffwys a mwynhau’r tywydd bendigedig dros yr hanner tymor. Braf oedd gweld cymaint o blant Ynys Môn yn Eisteddfod Genedlaethol yr Urdd yn Sir Gâr eleni. Roedd y safon yn hynod o uchel, a gwych oedd gweld cymaint o ysgolion Ynys Môn yn cael llwyddiant yn y gwahanol gystadlaethau. Rwy’n ymwybodol iawn o faint o waith sy’n mynd i mewn i baratoi ar gyfer hyn, a hoffwn achub ar y cyfle i ddiolch i staff, rhieni ac wrth gwrs y plant a’r bobl ifanc am eu holl waith caled a’u hymdrechion. Roedd yn gyffrous clywed y cyhoeddiad bod Eisteddfod Genedlaethol yr Urdd yn dod i Ynys Môn yn 2026. Rhywbeth i ni gyd edrych ymlaen ato a chyfle i ni arddangos yr hyn sydd gan yr ynys i'w gynnig. Bydd yn codi proffil ac yn hyrwyddo’r iaith Gymraeg, ein diwylliant lleol, a gwaith rhagorol staff, plant a phobl ifanc ysgolion Ynys Môn. Bydd croeso mawr rwy’n siŵr i’n holl ffrindiau o bob rhan o Gymru a thu hwnt i’r digwyddiad arbennig hwn.
Bydd llawer ohonoch yn mynychu digwyddiad Cwricwlwm i Gymru GwE yn Venue Cymru yn Llandudno ar yr 22ain o Fehefin. Rwyf wastad yn cael fy ysbrydoli yn gweld cymaint o waith da yn digwydd yn ein hysgolion wrth i chi ddatblygu’r pedwar diben yn ein plant a’n pobl ifanc. Gobeithio y bydd y tywydd braf yn parhau drwy gydol y tymor er mwyn i chi allu manteisio i'r eithaf ar ymestyn eich dosbarthiadau i’r awyr agored. Er bod diwedd y flwyddyn yn prysur agosáu, gwn pa mor brysur yw pawb gydag arholiadau, trosglwyddo, asesiadau, adroddiadau diwedd blwyddyn, digwyddiadau chwaraeon a chynllunio’r cwricwlwm yn digwydd yn eich ysgolion. Mae'r gwaith yr ydych yn ei wneud yn sicr yn cael effaith gadarnhaol ar blant a phobl ifanc yr ynys. Diolch, a mwynhewch yr hanner tymor.
I hope you all had time to rest and enjoy the sunshine over half term. It was fantastic to see so many children from Ynys Môn at the Urdd National Eisteddfod in Carmarthenshire this year. The standard was extremely high, and it was wonderful to see so many schools from Ynys Môn having success in the various competitions. I know how much work goes into preparing for this and would like to take the opportunity to thank staff, parents and of course the children and young people for all their hard work and effort. It’s exciting to hear the announcement that the Urdd National Eisteddfod is coming to Ynys Môn in 2026. Something for us all to look forward to and an opportunity to showcase what the island has to offer. It will raise the profile of and promote the Welsh language, our local culture, and the excellent work of the staff, children and young people of Ynys Môn schools. I’m sure there will be a warm welcome to all our friends from across Wales and further afield to this special event.
I expect many of you will be at the GwE Curriculum for Wales event at Venue Cymru in Llandudno on the 22nd of June. It is inspiring to see so much good work going on in our schools in terms of developing the four purposes in our children and young people. Hopefully the good weather will continue throughout the term so that you can take full advantage of extending your classrooms outdoors. Although the end of the year is fast approaching, I know how busy everyone is with exams, transition, assessments, end of year reports, sporting events and planning the curriculum taking place. The work you do is certainly benefiting the children and young people of the island. Thank you, and enjoy the half term.

Cynllun Grant Gwyddoniaeth mewn Ysgolion 2023
2023 Science in Schools Grant Scheme
Rwy'n ysgrifennu o'r Sefydliad Brenhinol, lle bu i ni lansio ein cynllun grant Gwyddoniaeth mewn Ysgolion 2023 yn ddiweddar ar gyfer ysgolion cynradd ac uwchradd ar draws y DU.
Roeddem yn falch iawn o dderbyn ceisiadau o ansawdd uchel gan ysgolion yng Nghymru yn y blynyddoedd blaenorol. O ganlyniad, mae 18 o ysgolion yn y wlad wedi derbyn ymweliadau am ddim gan ein cyflwynwyr gwyddoniaeth ers i'r cynllun grant lansio yn 2021. Mae Cymru'n parhau i fod yn un o'n meysydd blaenoriaeth ar gyfer dyfarnu grantiau, ac rydym yn awyddus iawn i sicrhau bod ysgolion Cymru'n cael eu cynrychioli'n gymesur yn y cynllun.
Gan fod llawer mwy o ysgolion yng Nghymru'n gymwys am y grantiau hyn na'r nifer sy'n ymgeisio, a fyddai modd i chi rannu'r rhain â'ch hysgolion os gwelwch yn dda? Mae ceisiadau bellach yn agored, a'r dyddiad cau yw hanner dydd ar y 12fed o Fehefin:
I'm writing from the Royal Institution, where we recently launched our 2023 Science in Schools grant scheme for primary and secondary schools across the UK.
We were delighted to receive high quality applications from schools in Wales in previous years. As a result, 18 schools in the country have received free visits from our professionally trained science presenters since the grant scheme launched in 2021. Wales remains one of our priority areas for awarding grants, and we are very keen to make sure Welsh schools are proportionally represented in the scheme.
The full day school visits are worth £800, and include curriculum-linked science shows for students, CPD for teachers, and an after-school community show for families. Welsh language versions of the curriculum links and key vocabulary documents are now available for each of our student shows.
Since many more schools in Wales are eligible for these grants than are applying, I was wondering whether you would share the scheme with your schools? Applications are now open, and the deadline is midday on 12th June: https://www.rigb.org/learning/grants-schools.
