Unseen Poetry

• You will be given two poems, that you have never seen, and asked to compare and contrast them. 

• These poems will be linked thematically. 

• The exam will tell you how they are linked at the top of the page 'Both poems explore.....'

• You need to ensure you make links between both poems and start comparing them straight away. 

• DO NOT talk about one poem and then the other as this is not comparison and will loose you marks and waste time. 

• Try to discuss the following things:

  • Any Married Man Will Plead Severe Poverty

  • A - ABOUT

  • M - MESSAGE

  • M - MOOD

  • WP - WORDS AND PHRASES

  • S - STRUCTURE

  • P - PERSONAL RESPONSE

• 20 marks = 1 hour

  • 15 minutes = planning (what are your links?)

  • 45 minutes = writing (this is what matters!)

You will be graded on the following:

A01 - Critical response to texts

A02 - Language, structure and form

A03 - Making comparisons

TOTAL MARKS AVAILABLE = 20 marks
