Smile, Strive, Succeed
Our Curriculum Vision
Our curriculum ensures that all learners become full members of our school community, and have access to the wider curriculum and all of the school's activities. In our school the learning experiences enable learners to be ambitious, enterprising and creative. The curriculum is balanced and broad, and seeks to promote the moral, cultural, social, emotional, mental and physical development of our pupils. As the pupils progress, the knowledge, skills and understanding that they gain through their learning experiences become deeper and more sophisticated. The curriculum prepares them for opportunities, responsibilities and experiences they will have in their lives at school and beyond.
Our Curriculum - The curriculum guides our pupils towards the four purposes.
Our learners will be healthy and confident, curious and resourceful lifelong learners. They will take part in and contribute to global issues, and practice the core values of the school and all its stakeholders - respect, participation, responsibility and collaboration. Our learners will build confidence in their identity as they explore, demonstrate, make decisions and value skills and knowledge that will help them to be creative, ethical, capable and knowledgeable citizens in their communities.
Pupils' voice and children's rights are central to everything we do.
Pupils and parents were asked about the things that are important to them and the types of experiences they would like to see more of them
The staff and Governors were asked about the school's values and the type of learners they would like to develop at Ysgol Dyffryn Ogwen.
In order to realize these we will:
> Foster high standards in terms of learning, teaching and behaviour; offering a supportive and caring environment where everyone will respect the needs and rights of others, as valued members of society
> Ensure challenging and rich learning experiences that are part of a comprehensive and balanced curriculum
> Promote and prioritize the welfare of pupils and staff
> Give everyone the opportunity to experience success regardless of their ability, background or needs
> Develop our pupils' bilingualism and foster a sense of pride in their Welsh identity, culture, heritage and traditions
> Ensure equal opportunities and equity for everyone, encouraging each other to use and develop their talents to the best of their ability
