Dylan Thomas described New Quay as a 'Cliff Perched Toppling Town'
This is the drawing that Dylan Thomas drew of 'Llareggub'.
Around twenty years ago, James Davies, wrote that “Thomas’s drawing of Llareggub is... based on New Quay.”
The shape of Llareggub Hill in the sketch is the same shape as Pengraig Hill, New Quay.

Ein disgrifiad ni o Cei Newydd yn Gymraeg
Roedd y pentref yn enwog am y diwydiant pysgota a'r llongau pren oedd yn cael eu hadeiladu ar y traethau lleol.
The village was famous for the fishing industry and the wooden ships that were built on the local beaches.
Cei Newydd is built on the slopes of 3 hills - Neuadd, Penwig, Penrhiwpystyll.
The bay itself is sheltered by New Quay Head and Llanina point.
It is not known when the little fishing village that later developed into New Quay came to into existence. There is evidence that churches dating back to the 5th and 6th century were located at Llanllwchaearn and Llanina.

Ein prosiect / Our Project
Mae'r prosiect, yn archwilio hanes cyfoethog ein pentref, a ddisgrifiwyd gan Dylan Thomas fel "Cliff Perched Toppling Town”. Gan ddefnyddio cyfryngau digidol fel ffilm, animeiddio, deallusrwydd artiffisial, taenlenni, a chronfeydd data, mae disgyblion wedi ymchwilio a phortreadu hanes yr ardal mewn ffyrdd dyfeisgar. Cawsant fewnwelediad gwerthfawr, drwy ymweliadau lleol a chyfweliadau gydag aelodau'r gymuned, gan ddatgelu straeon personol a chysylltiadau hanesyddol diddorol.
Mae'r cyfuniad o dechnoleg ddigidol ac ymchwil uniongyrchol wedi dyfnhau gwerthfawrogiad a dealltwriaeth y disgyblion o'u treftadaeth ac wedi sicrhau bod hanes lleol yn cael ei rannu gyda’r gymuned leol.

Our Project, explores the rich history of our village, once described by Dylan Thomas as a "Cliff Perched Toppling Town”. Using digital media such as film, animation, A.I., spreadsheets, and databases, pupils have investigated and portrayed the area's rich past in inventive ways. The pupils have also gained valuable insights through local visits and interviews with community members, uncovering personal stories and historical connections.
This dynamic blend of digital technology and first hand research has deepened the pupils’ appreciation and understanding of their heritage and ensured that the village history is shared with the local community.
