Cardiff East Creative Digital Group was set up in November 2018. The group of schools from the eastern area of Cardiff include; Meadowlane, Willowbrook, Bryn Hafod, Trowbridge and Greenway primary schools.
Cardiff East Creative Digital Group was set up in November 2018. The group of schools from the eastern area of Cardiff include; Meadowlane, Willowbrook, Bryn Hafod, Trowbridge and Greenway primary schools.
- The creative digital group was set up as part of funding from the Central South Wales Challenge, innovative, collaborative project.
- The project broadens the learners coding knowledge and skills using Micro:bit, whilst also providing them with the opportunity to collaborate with learners from other schools.
- The project links well with the four core purposes of the new curriculum for Wales:
Ambitious, Capable Learners
- Providing and instilling skills, setting the learners up for the digital world we live in.
- Learners will build a body of knowledge and have the skills to connect and apply that knowledge in different contexts.
- Learners will have the opportunity to question and solve problems as part of the project.
- Communicate effectively on a number of occasions and situations throughout the project.
- Learners will use digital technologies creatively to communicate, find and analyse information.
Healthy, Confident Individuals
- Learners having the opportunity to present and share their ideas, whilst also collaborating on a project with children from other schools using technology will help build and develop their confidence.
- Learners will face and overcome challenge whilst carrying out tasks linked to the project.
Ethical, Informed Citizens
- Promoting online safety awareness
Enterprising, Creative Contributors
- Learners will present their project to the whole creative digital group, providing opportunities to develop their presenting skills and confidence.
- Learners will also present their project to their own school during a whole school assembly.
- Learners will link with partner schools in the cluster to share what they have learnt with the matching year group, broadening knowledge and experiences whilst collaborating.
- Learners will connect and apply their knowledge and skills to create ideas and products linking with coding.
