There are many times in a relationship where difficulties can arise, whether the relationship is fairly new, or you have been married for decades. Very often couples move into a pattern of relating negatively or not communicating and connecting as they once did. There are so many situations that can impact on this, including finances, family losses, becoming parents, and other changes in circumstances. Whether you are aware of what has created the problems or there is nothing specific, it is often the unexpressed feelings in the relationship that creates distance or negativity.
When this happens, having time to focus on increasing communication can help to move things forward, and counselling sessions can provide this very important time and space. As a couples counsellor, my client is not either of the partners, but the relationship, and the aim is to break the cycles and patterns that have developed to support a focus on connecting in healthier ways.
I am happy to have a phone conversation to discuss whether counselling would be beneficial for you as a couple, and as with all of my counselling, a discounted initial session will be held to explore how comfortable both partners feel in counselling and assess whether counselling is appropriate.
