Asthma

Asthma is a chronic disease that affects the airways in the lungs. During an attack, these airways become inflamed, making it more difficult to breathe. The CDC reports that Asthma affects about 8.3% of children1. We would like to help you and your child manage their symptoms and avoid asthma triggers.

You are encouraged to bring an inhaler to keep at school in the nurse's office for your child with asthma. You and your child's physician need to fill out the Medication Order and Permission Form giving your child permission to use an inhaler with the nurse at school. In addition, your child's physician should provide you with an Asthma Action Plan. We would like to keep a copy of this plan with your child's inhaler here at school. The inhaler will accompany your child on any field trips.
