Hutto Ninth Grade Center (NGC) is just the beginning of your high school journey. All of Hutto's 9th graders attend NGC, so FMS, GAMS and HMS are no longer rivals, they are now classmates and teammates. NGC is a part of Hutto High School (for now), with 9th grade classes taught in this beautiful facility. High School is different from Middle School in the following ways...
You are now earning "CREDITS" to graduate with a high school diploma. It takes 26 credits to graduate. Each class you take earns one credit.
You are required to earn a certain amount of credits to be considered "promoted" to the next grade. Sophomore = 6 credits
Attendance matters. You are required to be in class for a certain amount of time to earn credit for the class.
You will have to pass End of Course (EOC) exams in 5 subject areas to meet graduation requirements. English I, Algebra, Biology, and U.S. History, and English II
Ninth grade is the beginning of your high school career. This video presentation will help you understand how your year will be at the NGC.
High school can have many challenges when learning how to communicate effectively, manage your emotions, all while doing well in school.
Having a safe adult to talk to can be very beneficial as you navigate the demands of High School. School counselors are here to help.
Words of Wisdom...from former 9th graders.
"Be yourself and focus on you and your grades before you try to find friends or boyfriends/girlfriends"
"Don't let anyone control you! You be yourself and people will love who you are! Be the best you can be and shine at the nine!"
"Never forget you're not alone, even when you feel like, there's people all around you to make you smile and laugh. Have fun in 9th grade but also be responsible."
"Let go of who you were and find out who you want to be"
"Just live your life & don't care about what people say or do. If it gets overwhelming, just breathe or listen to music and drown them out."
