As a parent, what can I do to help the Physical Education program?
If you do this it would really help us out:
-Learn what day your child has PE. It should be every other day. Please send them in tennis shoes on those days. If it's hard to remember what days, please just have them wear tennis shoes every day.
*Monday/Wednesday/Friday or Tuesday/Thursday/Friday
-If your child comes home talking about a game or sport we played- see if there is any way you can expose them to more at home.
*EX- Come home talking about kickball: Take them to a baseball game (they run the bases like we do).
*EX- Come home talking about bowling: have a family bowling outing
-Please let your child lose every now and then. WE typically have at least 50-60 students in the gym at a time. If we play a game that has a winning team- that means at least 25 students just lost as well. WE have students that really struggle with this.
*play more board games/card games with them. If they lose, teach them how to overcome being upset about it.
-If waiting in line somewhere, please try not to give your child an electronic device to entertain them. Students have to line up and wait all the time in school. If they never practice good line waiting skills at home/public, they may struggle at school.
