Frequently Asked Questions

I had a new student enroll in my class. How do I get them added to my Seesaw class?

New students take 24-48 hours to appear in your Seesaw class with the nightly Skyward sync. If a student has not been added to your class in 48 hours, please contact Caitlin. In the meantime, you can share your Google Meet link and schedule with parents via email.

I had a student in my class yesterday and today they are not able to log in today?

Check with your campus registrar to ensure that the child is active in Skyward. If the child is inactive or unenrolled, that will need to be fixed before the child will be added back to the Seesaw class. It will take 24-48 hours for them to be added back to your Seesaw class. If the child is active in Skyward, please contact Caitlin.

  1. Tap your Profile Icon (upper left hand corner) and select the class you want to add a co-teacher to.

  2. Tap the wrench in the top right corner and tap 'Manage Teachers'.

  3. Tap on 'Invite Teachers', type in your co-teacher's email address, and tap Send.

  4. Your co-teacher will receive an email with a special invite link. They should click the link to accept your invite. They can create a new Seesaw account or sign into an existing account.

How do I share my weekly schedule/template with families?

Once you create your weekly schedule/template, you will need to create a published link. Open the document you want to share. Go to File -> Publish to the Web. Click Publish and copy the link. All weekly schedule links should be shared as an announcement in Seesaw. This way families can easily find it and access the resources.

The links in my weekly schedule/template are not working?

Double check that you shared a published link and not the regular share link. To create a published link, open the document you want to share. Go to File -> Publish to the Web. Click Publish and copy the link

How do I share Google Meet recordings with families in Seesaw?

There are three ways to share recordings with families. Be mindful of the way you are sharing links so your student’s inboxes do not get overloaded with multiple announcements a day. Instead consider sharing them as activities or collecting all the links in one shared document with families.

How do I see Seesaw from the student’s view?

Request a demo student be added to your classroom here. Once the demo student has been added you can use these directions to access the student view.

How do I use Seesaw to message individual families?

In order to enable two-way communication within Seesaw between families and teachers, we need to set up the Seesaw Family Access. We are going to use the invite link option to connect families to classes. Here's how to find you unique class link to share with families. Each individual class will need to share their unique link with parents to enable access. For example if a student is in Mrs. Brejcha's Kindergarten class for part of the day and Mrs. Hong's class for part of the day, each teacher will need to send a link to families. So families can connect to both classes.

*If you have multiple classes due to rostering, you will need to send the class link that is connected to the correct class to each family. For example, Hadley is in Mrs. Brejcha's CCES class and Kelly is in Mrs. Brejcha's HES class. Their families would get different links.

There may be some confusion between the two accounts/apps once you enable Family Access:

Seesaw Class Account/App is for the student to complete work. Students access this through ClassLink.

Seesaw Family Account/App is for parents to communicate with teachers, comment on work, and view posts after the teacher approves the post. Parents can access this at app.seesaw.me or by downloading the app on their mobile device.

*Once we return to school, students will use the Class Account/App at school and families can see work as you approve it on the Family Account/App throughout the day.

Here is a sample message/email to send families.

3. Click ‘Schedule’.

4. Select the date and time you would like to share the activity with your students, and then click the green check.

5. Click the green check to confirm the date and time.

6. Click 'Assign on' to schedule your activity for the selected date and time.

New activities should be released daily to students.

My students have lots of activities in their activities tab? or My activities tab has every activity in it. How do I clean it up?

If you no longer want to use an activity in a class, you can archive it! If students have responded to an activity, their responses will not be archived but the activity will be removed from their activity feed whether they have completed the activity or not.

The activity will still be available in the ‘my library’ section of your Activity Library.

To archive an activity:

1. Click the Activities tab.

2. Select [...] on the activity you would like to archive.

3. Click 'Archive'. If there are no student responses to an activity, you can tap 'Delete' to delete an activity.

You can re-publish the activity in any class by going to the ‘my library’ section of the Activity Library and clicking ‘share’.

You can also remove an activity from your library by tapping [...] and selecting ‘remove from library’ on an activity in the ‘my library’ tab.

How do I share Google Meet links, Sign-up Genius links, and other resources with families in Seesaw?

The best way to share these links is within your weekly template/schedule. This document should be your one-stop shop for all your classroom information. This will eliminate the need for multiple messages to families and multiple places for families to remember and check. If you have shared your weekly template/schedule as a published link, there is no need to re-send the link if you make any updates. The published link will automatically update.

Do I need to be emailing parents and sending information in announcements in Seesaw?

The goal is to move all communication to Seesaw to eliminate the need for parents to check multiple accounts.
