It’s wonderful having access to technology! Chromebooks take learning to the next level with opportunities for personalized skills practice, virtual field trips, collaboration/creation tools, and much more!
⚠️HOWEVER, while technology brings numerous benefits to education, technology is only as effective as its use in the classroom. Technology use should be used at the right time, in the right way, and for the right purpose. We do not want our students to become screentime zombies passively using technology.
Read more about purposeful use in the classroom here. It is a district improvement plan goal this year to increase purposeful technology use (and decrease passive technology use).
Each teacher's classroom has 2 Chromebook loaners that stay in the room.
Each teacher has 2 chargers per classroom for charging the loaner Chromebooks at night
The chargers can be loaned to students in the classroom during the day.
Teacher is responsible for chromebooks and chargers. Do not let a student leave your classroom with a loaner Chromebook or charger. (ex. trade student phone or personal item to ensure they swap it back at end of class)
Students can only go to the library (or designated Chromebook help) during the student Chromebook support hour before school.
The only time a student can go to the library during the day for Chromebook help is if they lost their Chromebook during a class period. The librarian will only be able to call tech support to lock the Chromebook so no one else can sign into it.
A brand new student that starts school during the day may also go to the library to receive their issued Chromebook.
