This blog is all about the most effective ways to communicate in various different scenarios. The two researchers, Prabavathi and Nagasubramani, show how you should go about oral communication and written communication based on their experiences in their lives and how they've been impacted by communication.
In this article, R. Prabavathi and P. C. Nagasubramani of Tamilnadu Teachers Education University in India explores the ways in which you should go about all your ways of communication. They use their own personal experiences to show the best ways to communicate with others around them. They hit every point of how your communication can be improved both in person or orally and in written communication. They use very beneficial points to get you to improve upon your relationships in formal and non formal scenarios. They also provide you with basic information about communication that could help give you a different mindset on how you may go about your daily life. They show that you have to be strategic in how you interact in order to get the best message across. Their information can be associated with anybody as it is just talking about how we, as humans, should learn to communicate. The biggest thing is that with different forms of communication, you should change things slightly to be most effective, but you should never change who you are.
Obviously in an organization you want to be more formal. If you run something, you definitely want to make your employees like you and you have a good relationship with people around you. The authors say that you need to create a good atmosphere (Prabavathi & Nagasubramani, 2018) . You have to first make sure the area around you is welcoming so your employees feel comfortable. They say that you want to make sure people know that they have a voice too. You should never make it so people don’t think their opinion matters. In more of a presentation type of communication, you need to make sure that whatever you’re talking about is believable and is not too stretched so people don’t question your topic. You should also use gestures and not just sit there while reading something or just speaking. If you use gestures and get into your presentation well then your audience will realize how devoted you are to your topic and that you really believe in what you’re saying. Finally, what I believe to be the most important part, you should always speak from your own voice. If you just write down random things you see, your presentation won’t be as effective. You have to know what you’re talking about and don’t go out of your comfort zone on what words you’re using and what you want to be said. Just be yourself.
Oral communication is so useful and it needs to be done in strategic ways in order for it to be done effectively and appropriately. Oral communication can be in forms of presentations or speeches. Therefore, the above section about organizations is the same kind of thought process you need to be good at communicating. You’ve got to be believable and know what you’re talking about. In terms of communication between just you and another individual, the quicker you respond is typically more effective. You also have to be aware of who you’re talking to. If you’re talking to a friend, you know you can say what you want because you and your friend are in a non formal conversation. You are used to each other saying questionable things and you’ve probably grown to accept it depending on how close you two are. If you’re talking to a friend, though, you need to make sure you know who’s around you. You don’t want somebody to hear something they shouldn’t. Then you have a formal conversation. These ones you need to make sure you are careful of what you say. Still be yourself, but don’t say something inappropriate because you don’t want to ruin connections. In any oral conversation you should make sure your presence is known and don’t let anybody know that anything else is affecting you. Be confident but don’t be overconfident.
When you’re showing communication through writing, you have a little more room to work with because you can almost use words or phrases you don’t usually use but this is not necessarily always effective. It is still good and important to make sure you are still being you in your writing. That way your audience will have a basic understanding of who you may be or how you’re like in person. It is beneficial to use words everybody knows so you don’t have anyone confused. You should also use shorter sentences and paragraphs so your readers are looking forward to reading it and don’t think it will be dreadful. Using visual images is also very helpful. Provide graphs and charts to let your reader see the information in various ways. Always express your thoughts logically. Never use unnecessary words or information that does not have any significance in the writing. Never ever use bad language and discriminatory language. This will show that it seems you don’t care as much about how people think of you, and that’s not what you want. The biggest takeaway with written communication is that you need to be careful because readers get bored and don’t want to read long uninteresting paragraphs. Make them love your writing and make them connect.
Communication is used in every day of your life. Communication is probably one of the most important concepts you need to know about. It can really make or break a person. If you can’t communicate and make connections it will be hard for you to be successful. Sometimes communication can seem like a scary thing for some people, but at the end of the day, people don’t judge as much as we think. You have to be willing to go out of your way to talk to people and write about things you didn’t think you would ever communicate about. But when you decide to perform your effective communication you need to make sure that it is coming from the heart and is something you think has a purpose. Always be yourself in your communication.
