First, each player chooses one of the four pieces to play as. Afterwards, place them on the starting square. Then, each players chooses one of four colored buttons to represent themselves in the code.
Gameplay can then begin. Three cards are picked out of a stack of random category cards. The categories pulled represent the three types of words that need to be written down.
Once the categories have been chosen, generate a random letter by hitting the red button. If every player dislikes the chosen letter, the choice can be reset. Repeat until an acceptable letter is generated.
Players then have to race to write down a word for each of the chosen categories starting with the chosen letter as quickly as possible. Once they have written three words, they will hit their corresponding button on the board. This proceeds until each player has pressed their button.
Afterwards, discuss the three words you've written down, making sure they're applicable to the given letter and categories.
If no discrepancies are found, press all four buttons in the order in which each player finished writing their words. If discrepancies are found, press the buttons in order of 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place after these places are decided. The first place player will then move 6 spaces forward, the second 4 spaces, the third 2 space, and the fourth will not move.
If you run out of category cards, reshuffle them and place them back on the board to start anew.
Repeat this cycle until one player has reached the finish line. The LCD screen will then announce the winner.
