CHARACTER LEADERSHIP SERVICE SCHOLARSHIP
While the National Honor Society was created by the National Association of Secondary School Principals in 1921, the first chapter was founded by Mr. Edward Rynearson in Pittsburgh, PA. Elvin E. Hess created the Huntingdon Chapter of NHS sixty-one years ago and it continues to thrive today.
"To create enthusiasm for scholarship, to stimulate a desire to render service, to promote leadership, and to develop character in the students of secondary schools," (from the NHS bylaws).
