About the Four Year Curriculum - A voice program based in choral repertoire. Students study healthy vocal technique, music theory, music history, and musicianship skills, alongside performance ensembles.
In partnership with National Chorale, students attend conservatory classes in vocal technique, sight reading, musicianship, ear training, and ensemble singing. Students study an extensive vocal repertory, music history, theory, performance technique, and movement for singers. Students participate in ensemble and solo performances throughout the year.
About the Curriculum - Students take daily solo voice and ensemble classes in classical and contemporary repertoire. Students perform on the main stage all four years, including a fully staged opera in the 12th grade. Students study piano, musicianship/theory, and phonetics. Students may complete internships with cultural organizations, perform in special events including NYSSMA adjudication.
Singers should perform classical arias, art songs, cantatas, etc. and/or traditional musical theater songs. Singers will also be asked to participate in vocalizing and pitch matching exercises.
