Maribel is a graduate of Hunter College where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Psychology. She also has a Master of Science in social work (MSW) from Columbia University. After graduating from social work school she went on to work at Mount Sinai Hospital. During that time she was trained as a psychotherapist (LCSW).
Maribel has been working at SPELL since 2017 where she has enjoyed working with diverse students who show resilience and enthusiasm to learn.
Michelle has worked for the SPELL program for three years. She is bilingual in English/Spanish and works closely supporting SPELL students in levels 4-7.
As a graduate from the MA TESOL program at Hunter college and as an ESL teacher for the NYC Department of Education, Michelle has worked with ESL students and families for over ten years. She brings her compassion, advocacy and overall knowledge of immigrant populations when providing services and support to her students.
