Welcome to the website of Hunter's General Organization, our unique version of a student government. The G.O. acts as a liaison between the students and the administration, governs on behalf of the student body, runs a variety of student activities, and charters all of Hunter’s incredible 120+ clubs. Under the constitution ratified in 1990, the student government consists of the Executive Board and the Senate.

The Executive Board is the elected body of the G.O. and reflects the needs and wants of the entire student body. The Executive Board consists of six elected students aided by one faculty advisor and eight assistants. Open G.O. elections are held in the spring and assistant applications are released following elections. 

The Senate is made up of representatives from the Term Councils of each grade. Each Term Council appoints two students to represent their term in the Senate. The Senate oversees events like Wellness Week and has taken on numerous initiatives to improve student life, including the creation of a Faculty Feedback Form and edits to the Umbrella. Senate is also open to any student who wishes to join. 

In addition to the main governmental bodies of the G.O., we also run a Carnival Committee in the spring, with attendance open to anyone who wishes to join. The committee helps to plan all elements of Carnival from the beginning to the end.
