History this term has been intertwined within our PYP learning as well as the World Cup, in a number of classes. Providing children with lots of opportunities deepen their knowledge and understanding of the past, what has happened previously and how things of the past have influenced our way of living today, using a range of primary and secondary resources.
Da Vinci Class
The children have been looking at Guy Fawkes, how fireworks night came about, the meaning of fireworks and the bonfire. Da Vinci Class have also been looking at, talking about and celebrating their birthdays, and the amazing things they do for it as well. As exploring their personal history within their family and talking about how this history has influenced them and their family.
Berners Lee Class
Berners Lee Class have been looking at the Christmas story and have been recreating the story through their nativity.
Cousteau Class
Year 2 has been looking at the history of the World Cup and how it has changed over the years. We looked at reasons why it has changed and if it has changed for the better or worse of the tournament. We have looked at the different countries, their groups, researched their history and key facts about them in the world cup.
Anderson Class
Our Year 3 class has been looking at the history of light and how it has developed over time. They have created timelines and researched about Thomas Edison as well as the other inventors who came up with the light bulb invention. We have then spoken about how our lives would be different without having the Light bulb invention.
Adams Class
Adams Class have developed their History skills while exploring the Romans. We have looked at some of their emperors and the impact they had on Britain and mainland Europe. They have also looked at Boudicca and how she stood up for what she believed. As part of our action we considered what we can do to stand up for what we believed in. Adams' class have written newspaper articles to show the main events of Boudicca's revenge that unfortunately led to her death.
Thunberg Class
Thunberg Class have been researching the Mayans and Anglo Saxons this term. They have been looking at the similarities and differences between them. They have looked at food and compared them with what we eat now, Year 5 have also found out how chocolate was first invented and how it is made.
Attenborough Class
Years 6 have been focusing on World War 2 this term. They have been looking at Primary and Secondary Sources to help find information regarding the War. THey have looked at how the war affected different people including children from around the UK as well as key events within the war.
