Teaching Philosophy

We believe that students further their learning by stepping outside their comfort zones. To that end, we aim to provide challenging classroom experiences that require higher order thinking. We ask more questions than we answer, require students to redo activities and rework assignments when they have not demonstrated mastery, and strive to create realistic real-world assignments and activities to engage students. Since we believe reading is a valuable life-long skill, we ask all students to strive for 900 minutes of outside reading a quarter.

Ultimately, our focus is on learning, so we meet students where they are and provide them the support they need to grow both academically and socially throughout the year.
