This is a fully online course. You will use Canvas to log into the course and all of the course content. This four-week course is organized into one week modules. Each module will begin on Monday. The content for the week will open on the prior Saturday at 6am. The modules will have similarities, but they each are unique and have assignments with staggered due dates that will remain mostly consistent each week.
All materials will be provided for you in the Canvas course. However, we encourage you to have the following ready
the course syllabus for the course you are designing
the course learning outcomes and assessments
You may want to put these dates on your calendar now.
Getting Started (we encourage you do these brief activities prior to Week 1)
Getting to Know You survey due Sunday
Set up Canvas profile and notifications due Sunday
Getting Started quiz due Sunday
Week 1
Meet Your Peers due Thursday, replies to peers due on Sunday
Dear Online Student Letter due Thursday, replies to peers due on Sunday
Previous participants in this course noted that the one thing that they wished they had done differently was to schedule time for coursework. It is easy in an asynchronous online learning environment to put off work until "later" because we have such busy lives. While asynchronous learning provides flexibility, it still requires regular attention. We encourage you to create a schedule so that you not only maintain ongoing interaction and engagement in the course, but are less stressed about looming assignments overall.
Tips:
Login to the course every day (or nearly every day)
Preview each new module overview page on or near the start of that week (Monday)
Add the week's due dates on your calendar, and assess the workload
If you identify a challenge meeting an assignment, contact your facilitator(s) right away to share this concern. We understand life challenges and want you to be successful, so if you need flexibility lets us know.
