Lone Star College Application for Dual Credit Students
Go to: applytexas.org
• Click “get started” and create an account: use your personal email; create an appropriate username (write down
your username and password)
• Log In-on your dashboard click find the right application for you
o Are you currently in high school or middle school-yes
o Do you plan to apply to an undergraduate program, dual credit program or both-Dual Credit
o Are you a US citizen- choose yes or no as applicable; answer additional citizenship question if it applies to you
• At the bottom of the screen, select Start Core Questions
• Complete your personal information-Use your full name, this should match your school ID; check the box that
your name is represented correctly.
• Enter your permanent address
o Question 1-No
o Question 2-No
o Question 3-yes
• Enter preferred phone number (no dashes or parentheses are needed)
• Enter date and place of birth and check the box confirming that the date of birth is entered correctly
• Enter your gender
o Are you Hispanic, Latino or Spanish origin-yes or no
o What is your race-check all that apply
• Citizenship-if yes, enter SSN; if you do not have it, can be added later
• Citizenship-if no
o Are you currently residing in the United States-yes
o Answer the remaining questions based on your personal information. Ask for assistance if needed for
this section
o Answer all questions
• Military Status-If neither of your parent are in the military, select NA
o If you are a dependent of someone in the military, select the best option from the last three answers
• Foster Care-at any time in your life were you placed in foster care in Texas-select yes or no
• Language-skip and click next
• Household
o 1. input parent information
o 2. Skip gross income
o 3.My emergency contact info is the same as my parent/guardian’s information-yes
• Texas Residency-Answers to the following question:
o Of what state are you a resident-Texas
o Did you live or will you have lived in Texas for 36...Yes
o When you begin the semester for which you are applying...Yes
o During the 12 months prior to the term for which you are applying...No
o Are you claimed as a dependent or are you eligible to be claimed.... Yes
o Do you currently live in Texas? Yes
o If you currently live in Texas how many years have you been living here? – Enter the number of years
o If you currently live in Texas how many months...0
o If you currently live in Texas, what is your main purpose for being in the state? Choose A: Establish and
maintain a home
o Do you hold title to residential (do your parents own a home?) Select yes or no
o Do you have ownership interest and manage a business in TX? Answer yes or no
o Enter the date when your parents bought their home
o Enter the date your parents acquired their business
o Have you been gainfully employed in TX for past 12 months? No
o Have you received primary support from a social service agency for the past 12 months? Yes or No
o Are you married to a person who owns property.... No
o Complete the rest of the questions about your parents’ residency. Residency is where they live, not
citizenship status.
• Family Obligations Complete the questions to the best of your ability
• High School Information-Type HS name in the search box; select 06/01/XXXX as expected graduation date; select
no for GED question
• Previous College/University experience: questions 1-3 are no; question 4 is dual credit; question 5 is earn an
associate degree; skip advanced certifications
• Entrance Exam-Answer no to both questions
• Activities and Achievements-Skip all questions by clicking “next”
• Go to the school search at the top righthand side; on search school, enter Lone Star College System
• Scroll down to the Fall 2024 Dual Credit application, click view detail
• Click on start application top right-hand side; first page will be Application Review, scroll down and click next
• Select your major: choose Associate of Arts or Associate of Science, can be changed later
• Select your school district -Aldine-the rest of the questions are for LSC reporting; select the best answer for you
• Bottom of page, select your campus: choose Houston North, click next
• Your application does not require an essay, click next; select Admissions Application, Select two-year questions
• Review your application; at the bottom of the screen, select your high, click next
• Click all boxes to certify you have read the information, click next
• Application asks for payment, select fee waiver; click all boxes to certify you have read information
• Submit your application
Create your account now at commonapp.org
(You can start filling it out before Aug 1; it just won’t “go live” until then!)
Have your high school transcript and resume ready
You’ll need to input classes, grades, and extracurriculars.
Start brainstorming your personal statement
This is your chance to show who you are beyond your GPA.
Make a list of 6–10 colleges you're applying to
Include reach, match, and safety schools.
Ask for recommendations early
Teachers and counselors get busy; the earlier the better.
Check each college’s supplement requirements
Some schools require additional essays or portfolios.
Decide whether or not to submit test scores
Many schools are still test-optional; check their policy.
Stay organized with a spreadsheet or tracker
Track deadlines, fees, essay topics, and submission dates.
Proofread everything; twice!
Admissions officers will notice careless errors.
Get help from someone you trust (and who knows the process!)
Don’t go at it alone; more on that below.
