About HUGS-Lab
HUGS-Lab is the infant technology development group formed at The Catholic University of America as one of the outcomes of the infant hand use research we have been conducting over the past five years under the sponsorship of the National Institute on Disability, Independent Living and Rehabilitation Research,
In March of 2023, we began working with the IMPACT Center at the University of Pittsburgh Dept. of Rehabilitation Science and Technology. IMPACT product development specialists are mentoring HUGS-Lab on how to do a better job of discovering the needs and priorities of the people we aim to serve.
We know that the technologies we develop are of no use if they don't address the real needs and priorities of the people at the forefront of making home therapy the best it can be: therapists, families, and, of course, babies themselves!
Input Needed!
We are looking for people (families and therapists alike) who have experience with infant home exercise (therapy) programs to share their insights and provide us guidance on what would make/have made their experience better. Both Early Intervention and Outpatient Therapy contexts are welcome. Even though our research has focused on fine motor development to this point, we believe that ultimately the technologies we develop need to address infant development holistically. OT and PT, as well as SLP experiences are all appreciated.
Please drop us an email at schladen@cua.edu if you would be willing to Zoom or talk for about 20 minutes, to be arranged to suit your schedule.
