Student & Parent Responsibilities
Overview of Responsibilities
The iPads are to remain, at all times, the property of Hudson City Schools. They are loaned to students for educational purposes only.
Each iPad is asset tagged and assigned to an individual student. Asset tags must remain on the device and cannot be removed.
Each iPad will be protected in a rugged Logitech keyboard case. The iPad must remain in its protective case at all times.
The Hudson City Schools' Technology Department monitors and maintains each iPad using Apple School Manager and a mobile device management system. Using these systems, the District is able to set restrictions, provide access to educational resources and apps, and track and troubleshoot devices.
Classroom teachers have the ability to monitor and control student devices using built-in tools and features. At any time, a student's device may be collected and inspected. There is no expectation of privacy when using a district-owned iPad.
These guidelines do not attempt to address every required or prohibited behavior by students.
Student Responsibilities
Follow the expectations outlined in the Student Handbook and the Hudson City Schools Responsible Use Policy.
Agree to keep the iPad in a protective case at all times.
Agree to immediately return the iPad, case, and charger in good working condition upon request or withdrawal from the school district.
Assume full responsibility of the issued iPad at all times.
Take the iPad to the Media Center if is not working properly or is damaged in any way.
Parent Responsibilities
Purchase iPad insurance or be responsible for the cost to repair or replace the iPad if insurance isn't purchased.
Acknowledge that both students and parents are to follow the expectations in the Student Handbook and the Hudson City Schools Responsible Use Policy. Any violation of these guidelines could result in the student facing disciplinary action.
Be responsible for monitoring their child’s use of the Internet and apps when he/she is not at school.
