Use only a soft, lint free cloth, such as a microfiber. Avoid abrasive cloths, such as towels or paper towels.
Avoid excessive wiping, which may cause damage.
Unplug all external power sources, devices, and cables.
Keep liquids away from the device.
Don't get moisture into any of the openings.
Don't use aerosol sprays or bleach. Don't spray any kind of solution directly onto the iPad.
It is fine to use a 70% isopropyl alcohol wipe or Clorox wipe to disinfect and clean the keyboard and case. Don't use bleach, and avoid getting moisture into any of the openings.
iPads are property of Hudson City Schools, and students will be required to follow the policies outlined in this handbook and abide by the Responsible Use Policy.
iPads are to be kept in protective cases at all times.
Removable stickers are permitted on cases only. Nothing permanent, such as Sharpie, should be used on cases.
Use only a damp or dry microfiber cloth to clean the screen. Avoid the use of any chemicals.
Avoid exposure to extreme hot or cold temperatures.
Do not place heavy weight objects on top of an iPads. Take extra caution when packing bookbags.
Any iPad that is broken or not working properly should be taken to the Media Center.
Students should set a passcode to protect their iPads, and keep the passcode confidential. A school administrator or teacher may request the passcode to access this district-owned device at any time.

Students are responsible for bringing their iPads charged to school each day.
Loaner devices will only be provided in place of iPads undergoing repairs.
If students forget their iPads at home, they are still required to complete coursework as if they had their iPad present. Alternative assignments may be given, at teacher discretion.
If students repeatedly forget to bring their iPads to school, they may be subject to disciplinary action and consequences.
It is recommended that students regularly backup their files and data to iCloud and Google Drive. Syncing the iPad and/or backing it up regularly will allow the restoration of data should the device need to be replaced. It is the student’s responsibility to ensure that work is not lost due to mechanical failure or accidental deletion.
Files stored on the iPad, iCloud, or Google Drive are not private. Hudson administrators and teachers may review students’ files and communications at any time to ensure they are using the iPads appropriately.
Students are responsible for the appropriateness of all files, data, and internet history on their iPads. They should not take photos or video of other students or staff without their permission.
The possessing, forwarding, or uploading of unauthorized photos or video to any website, network storage area, or person is strictly forbidden. Do not access another individual’s materials, information, or files without permission.
Appropriate music is allowed to be played on iPads.
Earbuds/headphones are the responsibility of the student and may be used during class at the discretion of the teacher.
Personal apps may not be installed on iPads.
Through the use of an MDM, Hudson City Schools will automatically distribute apps to student iPads.
Students will be able to self-install approved apps that have been vetted and are deemed age appropriate from a self-service portal.
