Reiterated how to stay a thespian in good standing:
If you wish to receive your stole and cord at graduation, you must stay a thespian in good standing. How do you do that? Each year as a thespian, you need to earn at least 10 points. Stay involved!
Introduced the new HCER summer program!
The two-week program will be open to high school students from Hudson and the surrounding districts. Throughout the two weeks, students will participate in conservatory-type training in the mornings, then transition into rehearsals in the afternoon. The rehearsals led to a final performance at the end of the two weeks. However, if students wish to only do the morning or do the full day, they can. Currently, we are coordinating with other summer music events to determine the best possible dates for the program.

Voting to add an amendment to the Constitution.
Amendment = If you already own a letter from another activity/sport, we will be awarding those who are eligible with pins, which you can attach to a jacket. If you are awarded your first letter, you can still receive yours; however, you will also get a pin. At certain point amounts, you can then earn more “bar pins”. For example, 80 points=letter and/or pin, 160=first bar pin, 240=second bar pin, 320=third bar pin.
The voting for this new amendment was motioned by Josh and seconded by Mira; 28 thespians voted yes, 0 thespians voted no, and 1 thespian abstained. The new amendment was passed.
If you have any questions regarding this amendment, feel free to ask Bob, Tricia, or one of the officers!

Officer/Advisor Updates
Bob: Bob began by noting that the backstage monitors have been installed and will be wired over the summer so that they can be used in the fall. On a bigger note, Hadestown was a great success! The entire weekend was very positive, earning us a total of $38,000! Upcoming dates Bob acknowledged include:
8th May = Officer Elections! A rundown of each officer position will be posted on Google Classroom. If you feel you are fit for a certain position, try running! However, also be aware of what you want to run for; we want someone for each officer position who is willing to put in the effort.
29th April = Brush up rehearsal for the cast in Hadestown! We plan to perform a short piece at the Pep Assembly on Friday, however, we need to brush up on the number as a group and mark out the staging since it will be performed in the gym.
Upcoming Choir Concert! We need volunteers who are willing to work concessions from around 3:30 to 5:30.
Lillian: Lillian began by congratulating all the members who helped and performed in Hadestown! There were many positive comments, including a couple of people saying it was one of our school's best productions. On Tuesday (4/29) at 10am, plan to tune into Fox 8 news to hear the Dazzle nominations. During school, we will be gathering in the choir room during explorer period to watch, everyone is welcome to come! Additionally, we will be having our 2025 Thespian Inductions sometime in the next two weeks. A specific date will be announced once finalized. Lastly, Officer Elections for next year's elections will be held on Thursday, 8th May from around 3-5pm (further information stated in Bob’s notes).
Adeline: No Updates!
Annie: No Updates!
Italia: No Updates!
Joey: No Updates!

Thespian Meeting (14 February, 2025):
All officers were present except Treasurer; 14 thespians attended and 5 non-thespians attended
Officer/Advisor Updates
Bob: Bob started by noting that Hadestown has started and everything is looking good so far (choreography and the set)! Officially, our show can be announced on the 23rd of February. PATRICK PAGE IS ANNOUNCING IT SO TUNE INTO OUR SOCIAL PAGES (@hudsonhighdrama in instagram). Upon Bob’s request, don’t share your crew/cast roles until a week after. Aside from our musical, we need to continue as a club to find a successful fundraiser. We’ve had a lot of help from parents that have helped find sponsors ($7,000), however the student body needs to also take action! Additionally to money, we have received $2,500 towards backstage monitors! Overall, everything is going good so let’s keep it up!
Lillian: Lillian didn’t have any major updates. She is very excited for the next few months; be prepared for the reveal of our musical next week!
Adeline: To start, Adeline reminded everyone our Children’s Show performances will be, next week, the 21st and 22nd of February at 5:30pm. Please try to spread the word and encourage family members and friends with younger siblings to come! If people could, try posting the flyer across your social pages to spread the word.
Annie: Annie didn’t have much to say, however, the Google Form for bios is now released! For anyone in cast, crew, or pit, we need everyone to have a bio submitted so they can be showcased in the souvenir programs. Specifically, Annie would like all bios BEFORE SPRING BREAK! If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to her!
Italia: With the group, Italia listed some future fundraisers our club could do such as promposals and a lock in (like a social event where we could play games and hang out; an entry fee could be charged).
Joey: Joey reminded everyone to stay updated with their points!
Kate: On the 14th of February (today!) we will be watching Princess and the Frog after the thespian meeting. Bring snacks if you want!
Additional Comments/Questions
Some students offered to help at the children’s show (Carson and Bella)
Thespian meeting ended with Annie motioning to close and Allie seconding.
Meeting Minutes
Thespian Meeting (10 January, 2025):
All officers were present; 23 thespians attended and 10 non-thespians attended
Officer/Advisor Updates
Bob: Bob didn’t have much to say at this meeting except that our club needs to focus on finding more ways to make money. With our big musical coming up, money is going to become a big obstacle. Already, our show is costing around 11,000. Overall, fundraisers are going to be a main focus right now so we don’t go in the hole. Additionally, like always, Bob reminded thespians you need be an active member to get the rewards.
Lillian: Lillian started with a reminder that auditions for our spring musical will be taking place this coming Monday and Tuesday (13/14th January) and that crew interviews will be in two weeks (24th January). She reminded everyone it would be an amazing opportunity that you won’t want to miss! If you have any questions feel free to email or talk to Bob/any officer. Additionally, there is a link on Google Classroom including callback details. Apart from our upcoming musical, Lillian briefly brought up participating in the Culture and Club Fair on the 11th of February. Any ideas for what we could include at our stand would be great! Lillian finished by bringing up a new club Drama Club will be a part of; the ICC (the Inter Club Council). This new club will allow our club to receive points that will be put towards money we can receive.
Recommendations: Many recommendations were made regarding the Culture and Club Fair. Josh stated that we need to have some sort of food at our table, which led to the idea we could offer greek food because of where theater originated (Madison could possibly make the food?). Bella also suggested that we should have Milky White on display and that we could teach simple combat with foam swords.
Adeline: Updates were given on the Children’s show. There won’t be any rehearsal next Monday (13th) but there will be one on the day of crew interviews (24th).
Annie: Annie didn’t have any big updates. Only reminded people that she will start collecting bios as soon as possible with the upcoming auditions and cast/crew lists coming out!
Italia: Italia discusses many fundraiser ideas like restaurants (Aladdin’s or Don Patrons) and making/helping students with promposals. The officers need to work to find dates for possible restaurant fundraisers, however, once they do they will make sure to promote when it will be happening.
Recommendations: Lots of suggestions were made regarding fundraising events. Specifically, the idea of having businesses sponsor us (If anyone knows any businesses that would be willing, please reach out!). Another options was selling stuff at lunch like Madison’s cakepops. Additionally, could do something for April Fools Day (prank people’s friends?). Aiming towards kids and families, recommendations were made to offer “workshops” for elementary/middle school students and/or we could preform a small dance number from the musical at the PTO Pancake Breakfast.
Joey: Joey reminded everyone to KEEP TRACK OF THEIR POINTS! The end of the year will come sooner than later, so make sure you’re keeping up to date!
Kate: A social will be happening on the 19th of January! Drama Club will be hanging out at the Kent State Ice Arena from 2:30-4:00pm. Come ice skate and have fun with friends. Family and middle schoolers are all welcome!
Additional Comments/Questions
To promote ticket sales for our spring musical, tickets could possibly be sold during lunch periods.
Thespians discussed how we can handle the issue of people lying about their attendance at shows to get extra credit. As a recommended solution, students could fill out a Google Form after attending a show containing questions surrounding content from the production and a selfie of them at different points of the show. Drama Club members could create/provide the form and send it to teachers so they don’t have to make one themselves.
As another fundraiser opportunity, the Drama Club could sell concessions at the fashion show.
Thespian meeting ended with Bella motioning to close and Allie seconding.
Meeting Minutes
Thespian Meeting (6 December, 2024):
All officers were present except Treasurer and Publicity; 18 thespians attended and 13 non-thespians attended.
Officer/Advisor Updates
Bob: He began by making some remarks on our recent show, Treasure Island! Overall he was proud of how it went; concessions went very well but ticket sales were a bit low. In the end, we made around $10,000 from the show. Bob hopes that our upcoming spring musical will do well (he’s predicting it will sell out)! Hopefully, in the following years, our club can focus more on promoting the fall plays. As a change of topic, however, Bob wanted to give a huge shoutout to Kate Justice, our Publicity officer! She’s been doing an excellent job with her role, so great job Kate! Lastly, Bob reminded everyone that thespians should be staying on top of their responsibilities as part of the club; make sure you're attending thespian events if you want the goodies for graduation.
Recommendations: Joey advised everyone to spread the word about the spring musical because it’s one you won’t want to miss! Especially to seniors, try out and audition for the musical while you still can!
Lillian: Lillian started by thanking everyone who was a part of Treasure Island and who helped out, everything was great! Next week on Wednesday, December 11th, there will be a spring musical audition workshop where interested individuals can learn the do’s and don’ts for the singing auditions. Additionally, on Friday, December 13th, there will be a choreography workshop where you can learn choreo that will be performed at the dance callbacks. More important dates for the spring musical include; January 13th and 14th are auditions (a signup genius will be posted along with more information), January 15th and 16th will be callbacks, and January 24th will be tech/crew interviews! Lillian noted that ALL THESE DATES ARE ON GOOGLE CLASSROOM!
Adeline: Adeline started by updating information on the children's show! The show is soon to be picked, so stay updated to hear what it will be. Auditions will be before we leave for winter break, most likely Monday, December 16th.
Annie: Annie didn’t have much to say except that programs for the fall play went well and that once the spring musical starts she will be focused on getting everyone’s bio’s sooner than later!
Italia: Italia was absent from the meeting but didn’t have anything to say.
Joey: As always, Joey reminded everyone to keep track of their points! As a reminder, he let everyone know that the strike after our Sunday performance of Treasure Island counts for points! Additionally, Joey talked about possibly making participation in the Dazzle Awards worth points (this topic still is being discussed and is not official in the constitution). Finally, he stated that the children’s show does count for points; it’s super fun and everyone should try it!
Kate: Kate was absent from the meeting but she did want to note that on Sunday, December 15th, there will be a costume sale open to members of drama club from 2-4 pm. We plan to then open it to everyone on December 17th and 18th (Tuesday and Wednesday) during lunch periods, explorer period, and late start. Both events are CASH ONLY! Finally, to get in the holiday spirit, Kate announced there will be a Drama Club Holiday Party on Saturday, December 21st from 1-4 pm in the choir room! If you plan to attend bring a white elephant gift for a gift exchange and prepare to watch the Muppets Christmas Carol!
Additional Comments/Questions:
Bella asked when we would be notified on our adjudication information for our fall play : this information should be released around the end of January.
Mira asked when the Children’s Show will be performed: it will most likely be around mid-end of February
Mattie wanted to know if attendees of the Dazzle Awards get points: yes you do (it’s equal to attending other shows = 1 point)!
Some concerns were made about how much of a commitment the Children’s Show is : the Children’s Show is equal to typical shows, you need to memorize your lines and attend the rehearsals (especially because there are only a few!).
Mira wanted to see if there could be more publicity towards auditioning for the Children’s Show : yes there definitely can be! We can try to announce it more around the school.
Thespian meeting ended with Adeline motioning to close and Bella seconding.
Meeting Minutes
Thespian Meeting (8 November, 2024):
All officers were present; 22 thespians attended and 9 non-thespians attended
Officer/Advisor Updates
Bob: Bob started by talking about our recent fundraisers such as Spooky Skelebration, Merchant Trick-or-Treat, and selling concessions at Jeff Kinney’s event. He pointed out that for next year we need to re-evaluate both our Halloween events (although they were fun we didn’t make that much in comparison to how much time/effort we put into them). Concessions went very well at Jeff Kinney (hopefully we can continue to sell concessions at other events and profit)! Bob also brought up that he was beginning to plan for our spring musical! Some details included that there will be dance practices to prepare for callbacks, and the cast size will be similar to the Addams Family (7 female-identifying and 7 male-identifying individuals in the ensemble). Finally, Bob briefly noted that points submission will be ending 2-3 weeks before our musical opens (so we have enough time to get all the awards ordered for the induction ceremony).
Lillian: She began by informing everyone that our fall play Treasure Island opens in 2 weeks! As a reminder, the cast should be studying their lines (even though you may think you’ve got everything it doesn’t mean you do). Additionally, crew and tech have been added and are doing a great job. She let everyone they are doing amazing! Lillian concluded by briefly talking about our two Halloween events (which Bob chatted about more).
Adeline: Adeline noted she has been very busy and is still working on the children’s show. However, she will update when she has further info so stay alert if you're interested!
Annie: Annie let everyone know that BIOS ARE DUE TODAY! Additionally, she let seniors apart of the show know that they need to turn in a baby photo for the program (you can text or email them to Annie).
Italia: Italia briefly talked about our two Halloween events and although they didn’t make as much money as we wanted she still thanked everyone who came to help and noted that everything was still super fun! She also let everyone know that spirit wear sales are over and that merchandise should come in around the week of the show. Finally, Italia informed everyone that there will be a thrift/vintage sale on the 14th of December (people can come purchase old costumes the club is getting rid of).
Joey: Joey reminded everyone to stay updated with their points!
Kate: An announcement was made stating that there will be a Friendsgiving on the 14th of November from 3-6 in the auditorium. Additionally, if anyone wants to help assist in the making of the trailer for Treasure Island that would be amazing. Locker signs will also be coming soon for members of the cast and crew of the play.
Additional Comments/Questions
Bella made the recommendation of placing posters in the Aurora School of the Arts to help promote the show.
Mira encouraged everyone to help with poster runs! Get a group of friends and a small stack of posters and hang them up around Hudson, it's super chill and fun!
Katherine made the recommendation we should announce the play on the morning announcements.
Thespian meeting ended with Bella motioning to close and Allie seconding.
Thespian Meeting (4 October, 2024):
Officer/Advisor Updates
Bob: Started by letting everyone know to track their points! Tracking them helps you become a thespian. Importantly, we have merchant trick-or-treat coming soon. Bob acknowledged that anyone interested in the Thriller Dance is welcome but make sure you get a costume for it (recommended you go to the thrift or possibly buy something cheap from our costumes). At the event, there will be a DJ which is where we will do our dance. The dance will be performed three times in between 45-minute increments. Bob also added that if anyone wanted to be involved with the event but didn’t want to participate in the dance aspect we need a couple of volunteers to collect donations for our club!
Questions: Some asked when Merchant is? It’s 24th October from 4-6pm
Lillian: Started by giving congrats to all selected cast and crew members for Treasure Island! She reminded everyone they need to be off book for next Wednesday (and know their blocking)! COME TO WORK CALLS.
As a group, we also added a new amendment that reiterated work calls are .5 points per hour and thespian meetings are 1 point. Adeline motioned to vote and Bella seconded. In the end, 28 said yes and no one said no or abstained. The amendment passed.
Adeline: Adeline discussed the plan for learning the Thriller Dance. She let people interested know that they will learn the dance on their own with a video and then will have a couple of short rehearsals closer to the date to refine.
Annie: Told everyone since cast and crew are both released for our upcoming fall play, participants need to fill out their bios. She still needs to figure out a “due date” but will let everyone know soon.
Italia: Italia was absent for the meeting but Adeline discussed the upcoming Spooky Skelebration! The date will be the 19th of October for a couple of hours. For people who don’t know what this event is Adeline explained it to be a big Halloween party for elementary kids. We will have games, face painting, a costume contest, and snacks. There will be a committee that can help plan (Mattie, Mira, Conner, and Olivia who are all on the social committee).
Recommendations: Many attendees of the meeting gave great ideas for games/activities for the event! Those who gave ideas were added to an email thread.
Joey: Joey was absent for the meeting but his only notes are to KEEP TRACK OF POINTS.
Kate: Threw out the idea of a social that would be a hangout at the Hudson Haunted House. It will be on the 26th of October.
Additional Comments/Questions
Bob has already seen some drama surrounding the teeth coloring for Treasure Island (some feared it may stain their teeth). He let everyone know it should be completely fine and shouldn’t damage your teeth.
Thespian meeting ended with Mira motioning to close and Allie seconding.

Adeline: Adeline updated everyone on the upcoming children’s show. She noted that there would be three choices posted to Google Classroom to vote on.

Recommendations: Bob (advised auditions should be done before winter break), Bob (advised anyone interested to audition for the children's show since it was a great opportunity to become involved in acting!)
Adeline continued by describing what the children's show is to anyone who may not be familiar. The children's show was explained to be a short, 20-minute(ish) show made up of a 10-15 person cast that is intended for younger audiences. The show is student-led and free of charge to see but donations are greatly appreciated!
Annie: Annie reminded everyone that since the process of establishing the cast and crew for Treasure Island has started she will soon email out information for participating students to complete a bio Google Form intended for the souvenir programs.
Recommendations: Lily asked/recommended that the cast/crew bios be set as an assignment on Google Classroom so they are easier to access, especially because some students don’t check their emails as frequently. Annie liked this idea.
Italia: Italia let everyone know that the Spooky Skelebration fundraising event will be coming back this year! Additionally, she plans to change what the Drama Club does this year at Merchant Trick-or-Treat (she plans on doing a “flash mob” sort of idea).

Kate: Kate let everyone know that there will be upcoming social events to look forward to. Possibly there may be an ice cream social (middle school students interested in theater are more than welcome!). Kate also let everyone know Drama Club started their own TikTok account! Go follow@hudsonhighdrama.
Questions: Bella (asked what content would be on the new TikTok which Kate said we would so some fun things with the cast and backstage)
Recommendations: Bella (recommended some content that we could make for the TikTok account)
Bob: Bob discusses his plans for the Merchant Trick-or-Treat, which he hopes to set up 2-3 locations in Downtown Hudson. Additionally, he let students know that a new QR code will be made accessible in the back of the scene shop to log work call hours. He gave another huge congrats to the cast selected for Treasure Island and brought up that some people were wondering if spirit wear for drama mamas and papas could be made. Finally, Bob talked about the upcoming crew interviews for roles in Treasure Island. He encouraged all students to interview for any of the roles that they thought they could do best. Reminded people that coordinator positions are open to all and that even the tech week worker role is very important and can help new students understand the process of backstage roles.
Additional Comments/Questions
Lily brought up the idea of selling pet swag as a part fo spirit wear
Sam and Josh asked if the QR code is mandatory to use (Bob responded that it would be the only way for students to log their hours).
Bob reminded students that you have to be honest with your point, even if your not he will know. If we ever have to the QR code logs can be viewed by Bob and can be checked for liars. Be honest with your points!
Josh asked if a link could be added to Google Classroom in case students forget to scan the QR code at work calls. Bob says he will work on adding that.
Thespian meeting ended with Josh motioning to close and Allie seconding.
