Who are we?
The Hudson High School Drama Club and Thespian Society perform multiple shows throughout our season (school year); a Fall Play, Children's Show, and Spring Musical. The Club and Society are composed of students from 9-12 grade at the High School and occasionally students from lower Middle and Elementary Schools. Our Facility (The HHS Auditorium/Theater) provides learning opportunities for students to practice their craft on and off the stage with professional design mentors and artistic personnel.
Treasure Island is a theatrical adaptation of the classic adventure story written by Robert Louis Stevenson and adapted by Bryony Lavery. The play follows the journey of the protagonist, Jim Hawkins, who’s quest begins when he finds a map leading to the infamous pirate Captain Flint’s treasure. With the help of Square Trelawney, Jim, along with Doctor Livesay, all set sail. Not long after Jim overhears the ship’s cook, Long John Silver, and other sailors planning to not let any of the honest men onboard return alive with the treasure. Jim, Squire, Livesey, and Captain Smollett must quickly plan their own counterattack, choosing to abandon the ship and head for land. With Jim’s crew and the pirates both on the island, adventure builds to a crescendo with a volley of skirmishes, desertions, truces, deceptions, bargains, and a fight for the hidden treasure! Only one side can win. Which will it be?
